Roma legend Francesco Totti sends Arsenal transfer message after seeing Mkhitaryan deal get done

Roma legend Francesco Totti believes on-loan Arsenal star Henrikh Makhitaryan will have a big impact on the side this season.

Unai Emery has transformed the feeling around the club with a number of exciting and talented signings during the summer transfer window, but he still has some work to do with some of the players that were already at the club.

Armenia international Mkhitaryan has endured a mixed spell at the Emirates since being involved in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United last year, as the 30-year-old has struggled to perform consistently for the Gunners.

But despite the fact he has been unimpressive in Arsenal shirt, he managed to get a starting spot in the opening Premier League fixture for the Gunners, although his performance was once again not that impressive.

And on transfer deadline day, he managed to secure a move to Italian giants Roma in order to try and rejuvenate his career, a move that may become permanent after he admitted that he may not return to Arsenal.

He is still yet to make his debut for Roma, but when it comes, Totti is certain he will impress. ‘Mkhitaryan can bring quality and quantity, so it’s a good move,’ Totti told Sky Sports Italia, via Football.London.

‘He hasn’t always played regularly over the last two years at Arsenal, but I hope he can feel at home at Roma.

‘The fans will certainly appreciate him here, as he has great technique and is eager to prove himself.’

Arsenal are heading into a new era under the guidance of Emery and it wasn’t a suprise to see many of the regular players at the club get moves away, especially someone like Mkhitaryan, who has failed to feel the love from Arsenal fans since his move to the Emirates.

So even though Arsenal were not able to buy a replacement to cover the loss of Mkhitaryan, the best thing for the midfielder was to leave the club and get some game time elsewhere, as he is coming towards the back end of his career and he just wants to play.

But Arsenal should sell him on for good next summer as he is no longer good enough for a club like Arsenal.
