New boss Maresca told ‘do everything’ and make sure £40M star is a Chelsea player!
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend has says Enzo Maresca should do everything he can to keep Conor Gallagher at Chelsea
Gallagher was one of the players that Mauricio Pochettino relied on the most over the course of his stay at Stamford Bridge – and the midfielder rarely let the side down with his hard-working performances.
But there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that he is one player that CHELSEA are very much open to letting leave the club at the end of the season – with the likes of Tottenham and West Ham reportedly interested in a deal.
However – amid that speculation and rumours – Townsend has told the incoming boss Maresca to do all he can to make sure that Conor Gallagher is a Chelsea player by the end of the summer window.
‘I thought Conor Gallagher had a really good season,’ Townsend said on talkSPORT. ‘I thought he played some really good stuff.
‘He was good on loan at Crystal Palace and I think he added more to his game last season. His partnership with Moises Caicedo is much better than the Enzo [Fernandez] one.
‘I would love to think that Maresca could say to the hierarchy, “please don’t sell him, I need him and desperately want him to stay”. I think he played really well and deserves to stay.’

Gallagher was very solid for CHELSEA last season and to be honest – the club would be massive fools to let him depart Stamford Bridge over the next few months.
So event though there has been alot of rumours about the future of Gallagher – we believe that he should stay and be given another season to prove himself at the club.
