Chelsea now free to complete £35M signing after agent reveals target wants move
BRIGHTON star Leandro Trossard has put the likes of Chelsea on high alert after revealing he will not sign a new contract.
Potter is easily regarded as one of the finest young managers in the Premier League and has been tipped to manage one of the big clubs – but no-one could have imagined that he would be taking over Chelsea so soon into the season.
But with a new manager comes some new players – and it is believed that Potter will now look to add some players to the squad that he believes can help take Chelsea back to the top – and players to the side that will help play the kind of football that he wants
Potter has already seen three players arrive this transfer window – with David Fofana, Andrey Santos and Joao Felix the three that he hopes will add some depth to that attack.
But after Raheem Sterling picked up an injury which will keep him out for a while, it has led to constant speculation in the media that Trossard is a player that the Premier League giants are very much interested in signing.
Now, it looks like they have the green light to make a move for the Dutchman – who is a player that Potter knows.
He was criticised for his work ethic by boss De Zerbi ahead of their 5-1 win against Middlesbrough last Saturday, who revealed he did not like the Belgian’s attitude.
He said: “The last session before [the] last game, when he understood he wasn’t playing, he left the session without telling me anything.
“I told him I don’t like this attitude.”
Trossard then drove himself to the Eurostar tunnel in Dover to travel to Belgium, report The Express, and his Brighton future is now in doubt.
His agency has also revealed Trossard does not intend to renew his Seagulls contract and will now look to leave Brighton.
A statement from Leandro Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair read:
“Before Leandro left for Qatar, it was Brighton’s intention to extend Leandro his contract , this did not happen as parties did not reach an agreement. Leandro has also indicated he is ready for his next step.
“After the WC there was an altercation at training between Leandro and another player over an inanity. Since then, the trainer has not spoken to Leandro, which is obviously not conducive to the atmosphere, as well as performance-wise.
“Leandro still was a first eleven player against Southampton and Arsenal but against Everton he was on the bench. In the 5 substitutions that took place then, he was also not among them and this without any explanation.
“In the run-up to the match against Middlesbrough for the FA cup, Leandro had already reported calf problems twice. This was the reason he stopped training. This was in consultation with the medical staff.
“Through the physical trainer Leandro learned that he had to train separately. Last Monday the trainer then grounded leandro in the group and indicated that he did not want to see him anymore. A trainer who has not communicated directly with his player for 4 weeks is truly incomprehensible.
“It is also the trainer who has indicated several times that a transfer is the most reasonable solution.
“It is therefore important that Brighton cooperate THIS mercato with a potential transfer , which is beneficial for both parties.”
