Thomas Tuchel has reacted to the news that Reece James has signed a massive new contract with Chelsea
Over the past few seasons – James has developed into one of the very best players at Stamford Bridge and a man that has so much creative quality on the wing for the Blues
Thomas Tuchel knows just how important that James is to the side – and he has come out and announced just how excited and happy he is to see that the defender has put pen to paper and agreed that massive six-year deal
‘He’s a very decisive player for us,’ said Tuchel. ‘He is an Academy player and I’ve said many times how important he is.
‘His development is far from over. There is a lot to learn for him and a lot to come but of course we’re happy to have a key player with us for so many years.’
On agreeing the new contract, Todd Boehly, chairman, said: ‘We are thrilled to give Reece a new long-term contract at Chelsea. He is an outstanding player and a true Chelsea man, and we are all looking forward to watching him continue to flourish at Stamford Bridge.’
Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano, co-controlling owners, said: ‘Reece is a very special footballer and one we love having at Chelsea under our ownership.
“His blend of physical and technical ability is a huge asset to our team now and for many years to come.’
