Big man announces why Arsenal transfer decision was made – ‘needed to play’
Nottingham Forest star Matt Turner has opened up on his decision to leave Arsenal, and it basically boils down to Aaron Ramsdale
The American star only moved to the Emirates last summer in hope that he could make a big impact at ARSENAL – but he was finding himself sitting on the bench pretty much every week.
He did keep three clean sheets in five UEFA Europa League outings for the Gunners as well as starting four times for the USA during their FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar, but was told he was free to leave during the transfer window.
And after Nottingham Forest announced that he has signed for the club, Matt Turner has opened up and revealed his decision to leave the Emirates over the summer transfer window.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
The keeper said to the Associated Press: “Credit to Aaron, really, because he brought it every single day. When he had opportunities, when doors were cracked open, he always slammed it back shut. And I think he’s a really talented goalkeeper.
“Towards the end of the season. I felt like there’s games that I could have been playing, that I wasn’t even getting really a sniff of them.
“I was training really well, doing I felt like everything in my power to get myself minutes on the team and that just wasn’t happening for me.
“I knew that if I waited another year, it probably would have been more challenging for me to make a lateral move within the Premier League.”
GOOD MOVE TO MAKE FOR TURNER?
There is no doubt that his career was going backwards staying at ARSENAL and sitting in the bench – so he will now be hoping that he is able to make move of an impact in that Forest side.
There will not be many complaints about his move – it is the correct one for him and his career – Forest are getting a very solid stopper.
