Bailly to be sold, Umtiti leaving Barcelona, Suson on way and Piatek Gunners fan in Arsenal Thursday news and gossip
Here is the daily roundup of Arsenal news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews.
Reports have claimed Barcelona are willing to sell Arsenal and Manchester United target Samuel Umtiti in the summer transfer window.
Umtiti signed for Barcelona way back in 2016 and has become an integral part of the Spaniards side over the past few seasons, but there has been a lot of speculation that he could be sold to help finance a move for Ajax superstar defender Matthijs De Ligt.
De Ligt is one of the most highly-regarded defenders in world football and has a number of top clubs chasing a possible deal, but it is believed that he would prefer a move to the Spanish Champions rather than a move to the Premier League or PSG.
And according to reports on the Calciomercato website, Barcelona are willing to cash in on the £21.4 million buy at the end of the season, with both the Gunners and United interested on trying to secure a deal.
Gunners boss Unai Emery will reportedly been given the funds to land a few ‘superstar’ names in the summer window, and is keen to add a defender of the quality and standing of Umtiti, while United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows that improving the back-line before the start of next season is a must if they are to challenge for the Premier League title once again.
Reports have claimed Arsenal are keen to try and acquire the services of AC Milan winger Suso.
With Gunners boss Unai Emery still chasing a top four spot and Champions League football for next season, the Spanish boss has started eyeing up possible summer recruits which will help his side push on and possibly challenge for the Premier League title.
And with the departures of a number of first team players, he will need to invest heavily in key areas of the pitch, and one name which has caught the attentions of the Spaniard is that of former Liverpool winger Suso.
Suso has become one of the most creative and attacking players in Seria A after reinventing his career in Italy and his performances over the past few months have alerted the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United and even Liverpool to his growing potential.
And with reports suggesting that Arsenal are close to announcing the arrival of Monchi as Sporting Director, the Tuttospprt website has claimed arrival could be vital in Arsenal’s attempts to sign AC Milan star Suso this summer.
Reports claim Monchi tried to sign Suso during his time as Roma’s sporting director and could try to do so again if he takes up the same role at the Emirates.
AC Milan star and long-term Chelsea target Krzysztof Piątek has admitted that he admired Arsenal as a youngster.
Piatek is now regarded as one of the most exciting strikers in world football and he was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, but the Blues could not get a deal done and in the end they settled for signing Gonzalo Higuaín instead.
And that meant that Milan had a clear run at trying to sign Piatek for just £35 million, a move which has taken the young strikers game to that next level with six goals in just seven Seria A games for the Italian giants.
But amid all the speculation that Chelsea are interested in a future deal, the striker has come out and revealed that he was an Arsenal fan as a youngster.
He told Calciomercato: “When I was a child I was an Arsenal fan”.
“I loved the style of Wenger and I admired players like Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. My celebration? I did after that I scored a goal once and from that moment it remained the same. It’s a habit now and it brings good luck so I am not going to change it”.
“I see people go crazy for this celebration here in Italy. I loved Genoa. I had a good time there. I loved the sea, there was good weather and good cuisine”.
Reports have claimed Manchester United are willing to offload Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Eric Bailly in the summer transfer window.
Since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as boss, Bailly has had very little game time with the Red Devils legend preferring Victor Lindelöf, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones at the back, which has led to a lot of speculation that he will look to leave the club at the end of the season.
Solskjaer will also be looking to rebuild the side in the summer and is expected to have around £200 million to acquire the type of players that will help the club challenge Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham for the Premier League title.
And according to the Metro website, Solskjaer is keen to bring in a new central defender and will allow Bailly to leave the club if the right offer arrives.
Gunners boss Unai Emery may have spent a whole load of money in the summer window, but his back-line has simply not been good enough this season and it is widely expected that he also delves into his transfer kitty and land a few new players, with Bailly on his shopping lost.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino may have one of the best defences in the Premier League, but with talk that Toby Alderweireld will be leaving after failing to agree a new contract, they have also shown an interest in Bailly over the past few months.
