United chance to sign 90M star – Top Manager has made Man United decision – Scholes lays into United ace
Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed from icfootballnews…
It has been claimed that Manchester United can sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the January window to really push on and get back into the hunt for that Champions League place.
So many names were linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer window, including the impressive Sesko, but in the end, Erik Ten Hag made the decision to bring in Joshua Zirkzee.
But that Man United attack has not started the new season the way that Ten Hag would like – meaning that Man United may have to delve into that transfer kitty once again in a bid to sign a striker like Sesko.
The Slovenian international signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in the summer and has already begun the season very well. Six goals and three assists in the first nine games including three in the first two Champions League matches against Juventus and Atletico Madrid is an excellent start.
However – despite that new contract being signed by the big striker – there has been some reports in the media which have now claimed that he could be available to sign in the winter window if the right offer arrives.
RB know that they will not be able to hold on to their star man if he continues to score the goals he has been, meaning that they are prepared to cash in should they get an offer that is simply too good to turn down.

Sesko is brilliant and showing Manchester United why they should have signed him in the summer. Every Man United fan knows that the club needs to sign a top striker as what they have right now is simply not good enough to compete.
SCHOLES LAYES INTO ZIRKZEE –
Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has sent a brutal message about striker Joshua Zirkzee as the Red Devils legend hit out at the transfer policy at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have spent more than £600 million ($785m) on players since Ten Hag became manager in the summer of 2022 – and yet they seem to be going backwards after having another poor start to the new season.
Zirkzee is a player that Man United have big hopes for after splashing some serious money on the lad just over the summer – but he has struggled to make that big impact and has not been able to score the amount of goals that Man United boss Erik ten Hag really needs.
The Red Devils legend believes his old team have spent a “ridiculous” amount of money on signings in recent transfer windows and He also raised concerns about the goalscoring ability of Zirkzee.
He told SuperSport: ‘Zirkzee… what is he? Is he a No.9 or a No.10? Is he going to get you 20 goals? I don’t think so. I think they’re relying more on hope than actual proven quality and they spent so much money as well. It’s a ridiculous amount of money and some of them can’t get in the team!
‘You think of Ugarte coming into the club who was supposed to change the way the midfield was… he didn’t play him. De Ligt, £50m and he didn’t play him. Jonny Evans has come in at 36 years old instead of him. Martinez, Ten Hag brought him into the club.
‘What’s he thinking today? Jonny Evans is playing, Maguire started, [Victor] Lindelof comes on before him. It’s just a recruitment mess really.”
SOUTHGATE HAS MADE UNITED DECISION –
Reporter Iomie Stanley as named the ‘obvious choice’ to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United amidst all the reports and the rumours that the Red Devils board have already started looking at possible replacements for the unhappy looking Dutchman.
Erik Ten Hag came to Old Trafford as one of the best managers in the game – but he has been unable to handle the pressures of managing a club like Man United and has struggled to get the results needed.
That has led to alot of reports that he is only a few games away from getting the sack – although the Manchester United board are more likely to keep hold of the Dutchman a couple more games before they make the decision on whether to let him go or not.
Stanley believes a change is necessary and views former England boss Gareth Southgate as the ‘obvious choice’ to replace beleaguered Ten Hag. The former England boss was heavily criticised for his tactics, the dour nature of England’s display and how timid the team looks ahead of Euro 2024, but he has still been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
‘Gareth Southgate is the obvious choice for Manchester United,’ he said
‘Erik ten Hag is a top manager, and he’d walk away with his head high and silverware on the table – like he did at Ajax. He’ll get another job and that might suit his style a bit better..
‘However – Southgate will take some time out before making a decision on his future – he probably has already made the decision that Man United is not the right club move to make right now.

Southgate done a decent job as England Coach – but he needs to move over and let somebody take the international squad to that next level – this side is far too good to not be winning any trophies.
Is he right for Manchester United? That is a question only the Red Devils board will know.
