Manchester United are reportedly confident that they can sign Jarrod Branthewaite from Everton this summer.

According to the report by talkSPORT – the departure of Varane means that Man United are desperate to replace the Frenchman and are confident that they can convince Everton into selling one of the clubs most in-demand players.

“It is also important that I am completely candid with you,” Thelwell said in a statement.

“The reality is, given the regulations in place and the Club’s current financial position, we have to trade well. Working within such tight financial parameters makes the job extremely difficult. Whilst we want to ensure the team is as competitive as possible, we cannot lose sight of our central objective to protect the long-term stability of the Club.

“That does mean players will be sold, and also that every tool at our disposal will be used to secure new additions to the squad, including utilisation of the loan market. Both Sean and I understand the responsibility we have – and that is a responsibility which has to be our priority.

‘That may not be exciting to hear but, under our current circumstances, it is the right thing for Everton.”

“My information is that a decision was made and was not ever supposed to be impacted by how the FA Cup final played out, so that suggests to me that the outcome of any end-of-season review is already decided.

“It is actually quite disrespectful to let this drag out much longer and, if he is leaving, I expect an announcement around that very soon.”

Both players have been outstanding for Palace this season and many believe that they are both now ready to make that step up in the game and take the next step in their development into world class stars.
