Manchester United holding advanced talks to wrap up summer signing of £65M star

It has again been claimed that Manchester United are reportedly having fresh talks for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, as they seek to convince the Premier League outfit to let their star player leave this summer.

Mbeumo had an amazing season last year for Brentford and firmly established himself as one of the best forwards in the Premier League, with his performces attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United.

United and Brentford have held talks and the player wants the move to Old Trafford, and Sky Sports News understands Brentford want in excess of £65m for Mbeumo and United have so far offered a package rising to £62.5m.

But a breakthrough has yet to be made. However, it’s still anticipated that the deal will eventually go through – it’s just taking longer than expected.

Brentford are understandably driving a hard bargain over the transfer fee, especially after Mbeumo’s stellar 2024/25 season where he netted 20 Premier League goals. Despite this, United remain engaged in negotiations.

IcFootballnews Says…

Manchester United will be very lucky to get Mbeumo this transfer window, he is ready to make that next step in his career and a move to a massive club needs to happen.

If United really wants the player then they will need to splash the cash, it is only a couple of million more that Brentford wants, no point is losing out over a few million.

However – the Red Devils are not wanting to meet that asking price that Brentford have placed on the head of Mbeumo and that is why a deal has not happened already, so it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils do indeed meet the fee and get a transfer deal done.
