United have opportunity to land Frenchman for less than £100m, Upamecano decision to be made in January, Poch message sent, Cavani would be good option for rivals

Stunning Cavani claim made, United have Varane chance, Upamecano decision in January and Poch knows what he wants to do in Manchester United roundup…

A decision over the future of RB Leipzig centre-back and Manchester United target Dayot Upamecano is set to be made in January.

The talented Frenchman made his debut for Les Bleus earlier in the season, after a stunning season with RB which led to him becoming one of the most sought after defenders in the game.

United are heavily linked with a move to try and sign the powerhouse, as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a central defender with pace to make up for Harry Maguire’s lack of mobility and has reportedly identified Upamecano as his priority target in this position.

Bayern Munich are unlikely to be involved in the bidding, however, with Sport Bild claiming that he is currently too expensive for the European champions, meaning that United have a very good opportunity to make a move.

According to the reports, Leipzig will make a decision over the future of their star man in the coming transfer window, and would even allow him to leave if their valuation is met by chasing clubs.

Amid all the speculation, Upamecano recently reportedly opened the door to a possible move to Old Trafford by failing to rule out a move to Manchester United, although he has said that his future is currently at Leipzig.

in a TV interview with Telefoot, He said: “For the moment I am with Leipzig but it is true that I was able to discuss with certain clubs.

“As I said, for now I am focused on Leipzig and I will continue to play for Leipzig. And then we’ll see.

“You never know what can happen in a football season.”

If United managed to secure a transfer deal for Upamecano, then he would be a brilliant signing for the club for now and the future.

Manchester United have the opportunity to sign Raphael Varane for well below £100million, according to stunning reports.

United may have spent close to £1 billion on new players since Sir Alex Ferguson retired from Management, but this squad is seriously lacking in world class talent all over the pitch.

David De Gea is one of the best stoppers in the game, Harry Maguire is tipped to be a world class act, Bruno Fernandes carries this season, while the brilliant Marcus Rashford holds his own up-top, but beyond that, as we said, there is some serious lacking of quality in the side.

Maguire needs a new centre-back at the club that will add some pace to the side, and Varane has been one player that United have been trying to sign for the last few seasons, bit his high valuation has meant that a deal has been able to get done.

However, the Manchester Evening News claim Los Blancos would be open to selling the Frenchman in the coming transfer windows, and the Spaniards may even be open to the idea of letting him leave for less than £100 million.

Zinedine Zidane needs to freshen up the squad with some big time signings, but the COVID-19 outbreak is restricting the business of Madrid and they may need to sell in order to raise funds.

Manchester United target Mauricio Pochettino remains out of work but the former Tottenham boss is expected to be back in football before long, according to Ossie Ardiles.

Solskjaer has the full backing of the board, feels like he is the right man to lead this United side back to the very top of the game and has just picked up an impressive result against Everton.

However, there is still alot of speculation in the media which has suggested that he is still under pressure at the club and will be replaced by Pochettino if he cannot get the results the club needs to win trophies this season.

Pochettino was sacked by Spurs a year ago but has taken his time away from football as he prepares for his next job, and has been linked with the likes of United, Newcastle and Barcelona in recent months.

Now, Former Tottenham manager Ardiles believes the Argentine knows what he wants as he plots his next job, Speaking to the Evening Standard, Ardiles said: “He knows exactly what he wants to do.

“Football is his life, so he’s been watching everything and he likes to talk about football.

“He’ll take his time and, before long, he’ll be working again.”

Manchester United star Edinson Cavani would have been a good signing for Liverpool, claimed Steve Nicol.

Cavani shocked many in the world of football over the transfer window when he decided to leave PSG on a free deal in order to seek one more big challenge in the game, and in the end, it was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that convinced him to make the move to the Premier League.

The new Manchester United front-man is PSG’s record goal-scorer with 200 goals in 301 games, and many believe that he will struggle to score gaols with Manchester United this season and beyond.

He is not the same player that he once was and is coming towards the very end of his playing days in the game, but despite the fact he has struggled to make much of an impact at United, Nicol has opened up and suggested that he would have been a good option for Liverpool.

Liverpool may have one of the best attacks in world football, but they dont really have many options on the bench if things are not going right, and Nicol has claimed that Cavani would have been a good option for Jurgen Klopp to have.

The former Liverpool ace told ESPN: “Edinson Cavani is a good option coming off the bench for any team.

“I wouldn’t have had a problem if Liverpool had signed Cavani for coming off the bench with 20 minutes to go.”

Cavani would have offered Liverpool something different, but there is a reason why Klopp didnt make a move and that is because he never believed Cavani would offer his side something.

United have him, but fans would have liked to see a younger striker arrive?
