Paratici on possible Man United signing, Liverpool get £70 million transfer boost, and Rice has transfer message

Here is a roundup of the latest Manchester United news from

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has confirmed that he will hold talks with Mario Mandzukic amid speculation that he is all set to sign for Manchester United.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer done some decent business during the summer transfer window and spent well over £100 million on signing players that he hoped would come in and help the Red Devils get back challenging for more than a top four spot in the Premier League.

But despite all that money being spent by the United hierarchy, they failed to add a top-class striker to the attack, meaning Solskjaer has not had the fire-power up top to lead the attack over the first few weeks of the season, especially after they sold Romelu Lukaku.

But all indications suggest that United will delve into their transfer kitty during the January window and try to sign a few more players that could come in and help turn their season around, with Mandzukic on the shopping list.

claim United are confident of landing Mandzukic for a fee of £9million in the new year and Paratic has been discussing the possible January deal, saying on the AS website: ‘With Mandzukic, we chose a quiet time for him to leave but a move to Qatar [in the summer] did not materialise so he stayed with us.

‘Now we will talk to him and see what happens in January.’

Dimitar Berbatov has backed United’s bid to sign Mandzukic and believes the Croatia international could be a good signing, he recently told Betfair: ‘They have the talent in the young players but at the same time you need someone like Mandzukic.

‘I think he is a really good football player and he hasn’t played before in England, but I hope if he comes he can straight away get into the rhythm of the Premier League. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was 34 years old when he signed for United and he didn’t have any problems.

‘Mandzukic is a similar age and hope he could have the same impact if he signs. I think his age is a good thing, [Anthony] Martial, Rashford and [Mason] Greenwood are all young players so they need that time and assurance that they don’t need to worry and they can learn from the experience of Mandzukic.’

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has responded to links that Manchester United are lining up a January move.

United spent some serious money during the summer transfer window, but Solskjaer failed to do the kind of business that he wanted and there has been speculation in the media that he would try and bring in a few players during the January transfer window.

And one player that is reportedly high up on the shopping list is that of Rice, who has been impressing for both England and West Ham over the past 12 months ever since he moved into the holding midfield role at the Hammers.

But amid all the transfer speculation of United and Rice, the England International has come out and told the Red Devils that he has no intention of leaving the Hammers right now as he is very happy, saying:

‘I signed a five year contract with West Ham last year, which will keep me at club till I’m 24, and for me this is the best place to be right now,’ he said.

‘I am playing for a manager who has given me my chance and played me week in, week out. ‘It’s all talk until something happens – and nothing has – so I’m just focused on West Ham, doing my best and making fans happy.’
