Paratici on possible Man United signing, Liverpool get £70 million transfer boost, and Rice has transfer message
Here is a roundup of the latest Manchester United news from icfootballnews.com
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has confirmed that he will hold talks with Mario Mandzukic amid speculation that he is all set to sign for Manchester United.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer done some decent business during the summer transfer window and spent well over £100 million on signing players that he hoped would come in and help the Red Devils get back challenging for more than a top four spot in the Premier League.
But despite all that money being spent by the United hierarchy, they failed to add a top-class striker to the attack, meaning Solskjaer has not had the fire-power up top to lead the attack over the first few weeks of the season, especially after they sold Romelu Lukaku.
But all indications suggest that United will delve into their transfer kitty during the January window and try to sign a few more players that could come in and help turn their season around, with Mandzukic on the shopping list.
claim United are confident of landing Mandzukic for a fee of £9million in the new year and Paratic has been discussing the possible January deal, saying on the AS website: ‘With Mandzukic, we chose a quiet time for him to leave but a move to Qatar [in the summer] did not materialise so he stayed with us.
‘Now we will talk to him and see what happens in January.’
Dimitar Berbatov has backed United’s bid to sign Mandzukic and believes the Croatia international could be a good signing, he recently told Betfair: ‘They have the talent in the young players but at the same time you need someone like Mandzukic.
‘I think he is a really good football player and he hasn’t played before in England, but I hope if he comes he can straight away get into the rhythm of the Premier League. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was 34 years old when he signed for United and he didn’t have any problems.
‘Mandzukic is a similar age and hope he could have the same impact if he signs. I think his age is a good thing, [Anthony] Martial, Rashford and [Mason] Greenwood are all young players so they need that time and assurance that they don’t need to worry and they can learn from the experience of Mandzukic.’
