United legend urges Manchester Board to bring 26-goal attacker to Old Trafford
Manchester United have been urged to make a decisive move for Victor Osimhen this summer, after club legend Nicky Butt described the Galatasaray striker as the “missing piece” in the club’s rebuild.
Butt’s intervention comes amid growing scrutiny over United’s attacking options, with the former midfielder unconvinced that current No.9 solutions can carry the side at the highest level. According to the latest reports, he believes Osimhen is “the one” the ps://icfootballnews.com/tag/man-united/”>Manchester United hierarchy should pursue in the upcoming transfer window, citing his experience, physicality and proven goalscoring pedigree.
The Nigeria international, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most complete forwards, has continued his prolific form in Turkey since joining Galatasaray permanently. He has registered 26 goals this season, underlining the consistency that has made him a long-standing target for elite clubs
Speaking to Paddy Power, the 1998-99 treble winner explained the logic behind targeting the former Napoli man: “I think he’d be the one. You’d like to think that players from Turkish sides are gettable. The recruitment team will not only look at the best players, but you’re looking at the ones that are gettable.”
He added: “You’re wasting time on certain players that you’re not going to get if they cost £120million. I think he’s powerful, quick, he can run in behind, he’s strong, has got a good touch, can score different types of goals, he’s good in the air.”
Would Osimhen be interested?
From the player’s perspective, there are encouraging signs for United. Osimhen has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League and is believed to be open to a switch to England, having turned down alternative destinations such as the Saudi Pro League in favour of remaining at the top level.
However, his situation is not straightforward. Past reports have indicated interest from multiple clubs, including Chelsea, and at times suggestions that he may favour other options depending on sporting project and financial package.
Ultimately, much may depend on ps://icfootballnews.com/tag/man-united/”>Manchester United’s trajectory. A return to the Champions League and evidence of a clear long-term plan could make Old Trafford an attractive destination.
Osimhen’s profile—powerful, quick, and clinical—appears tailor-made for the Premier League, and the opportunity to become the focal point of one of football’s biggest clubs would likely appeal.
