Decision made! Man United wants ‘sell trio’ and complete signing of £120M star!

Manchester United are said to be stepping up their pursuit of Rafael Leão this summer, with Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti claiming the Premier League club would be prepared to offer a package of players — potentially including Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte and Marcus Rashford — in exchange for the talented AC Milan winger.

According to reports, Manchester United have identified Leão as a key target to bolster their left-wing options ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The Portuguese international has endured a mixed season in Serie A, scoring across competitions but occasionally drawing criticism from the Milan faithful. That backdrop has opened the door for potential suitors, with United reportedly leading the chase.

Pellegatti’s claims, cited widely in Italian media, suggest Manchester United could present Milan with a choice of players to include as part of a swap deal to lower the cash outlay required to secure Leão’s services. The trio being discussed — striker Zirkzee, midfielder Ugarte and forward Rashford — each bring different attributes that could appeal to the San Siro club’s plans.

Zirkzee, the Dutch forward, was a standout target for Milan before his move to England and could be considered the most “footballing” of the three swap options. With limited starts this season, returning to Serie A might offer him the chance for a fresh start and regular minutes. Milan’s historic interest in Zirkzee could make him a compelling part of negotiations.

Ugarte, who has struggled to cement a regular role at Old Trafford since his arrival, is another name on the table. His physical presence in midfield might be attractive to Milan as they plan for a squad rebuild, though his inconsistent form has seen him linked with departures regardless of a Leão swap.

Rashford’s potential inclusion adds intrigue to the talks. The England international has been on loan at Barcelona and, despite a positive spell in La Liga, his future at United remains uncertain. While Milan would have to navigate Rashford’s reported high wages, his Premier League experience and attacking versatility could make him an appealing option for the Rossoneri

“Manchester United would offer three technical counterparts to sign Leao,” he said on YouTube. “The first is Joshua Zirkzee, a player who is already close to joining Milan.

“The cost is around €22-25m, so the compensation for Milan could be around €20m. Well, Zirkzee and Sorloth, I think, are a great opportunity for Milan and I think the fans like them.

It’s understood that it’s unlikely all three players would be included in a single transaction. Instead, United may give Milan the choice of one or two players alongside cash to sweeten the deal. Reports also indicate that if Zirkzee were part of the package, United might add a supplementary fee of around €20 million to clinch the transfer.
