‘He is a really good player’ fans told with Man United looking to complete world class deal

Man United legend Paul Scholes has endorsed the club’s bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong,

Now that Erik Ten Hag is in Manchester getting things ready for the summer transfer window – and then the start of the new season – some top-class players are on the transfer market.

Ten Hag is rumoured to be keen on bringing the midfielder to the club, having worked with him at Ajax – after it emerged that De Jong is very much open to the idea of leaving Barca in the transfer window

There has been so much speculation and rumours about the possible deal – but one thing is for certain – Xavi is very much keen to keep hold of a player that has been a massive part of the squad this season.

But amid the continuing speculation that Man United will try to secure a transfer deal for De Jong – legend Scholes has come out and encouraged his former club to sign the Dutch International

Asked how important it is for the club to back Ten Hag this summer, Scholes told Premier League Productions: ‘He has to be. The club have employed him now they have to give him exactly what he wants.

‘I heard Karen [Carney] mention there about a central midfielder – they’ve been talking about Frenkie de Jong, who I think is a really good player.

‘I haven’t seen much of him at Barcelona I must have admit but I’ve seen him with Holland and he’s that type of player that can come in and control the tempo of games.

“This manager needs backing now, he’s been brought into the club to really turn it around.’

There are alot of months between now and the summer window and we are sure that De Jong will look forward to his holidays before making a decision on his career

Ten Hag may want him – But this current Man United side cant even give him Champions League football – and that is what he desires

It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils do manage to get a transfer deal done
