United wants hold talks with Italian – Obvious Ten Hag replacement makes decision – Time for Ten Hag to go?
Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today featuring talks for Max Allegri – Gareth Southgate and whether it is time for Erik Ten Hag to leave the club….
Pundit Joe Cole has opened up and claimed that it may be the right time for Erik Ten Hag to leave Manchester United after another poor start to the season which has led to alot of speculation that he could be sacked in the coming days by that Red Devils board.
Ten Hag is a man that has won trophies at United already during his stay with the club – but after United’s poor start to the new season – there has been alot of rumours in the media that he is a man that could be about to get sacked by the club.
Now Cole has opened up and claimed that it is probably the right time for Ten Hag to leave – Cole told Paddy Power.: ‘It could be a blessing that Manchester United are playing away from Old Trafford on Thursday [against Porto] in a game when not much will be expected of them.
‘It’s a really tough part of our job because Erik ten Hag comes to speak to us and he’s always very respectful he answers the questions, and he doesn’t shy away. But ultimately, it’s just not happening [for him].
‘If he walks away he walks away from Manchester United in the next few months, he walks with his head held high. He won silverware and is part of the history but I think the players look like they need a new voice around them.
‘It’s really tough but I’m only going off what I see and how the players are reacting. The body language, they look lost and it’s hard because it’s Erik ten Hag’s team not doing well.
‘He’s got a fantastic but tough job and he’s a nice guy but I just think it may have run its course.
SOUTHGATE CLAIMED MADE –
Ex-England star Joe Cole has named the ‘obvious choice’ to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United amidst all the reports and the rumours that the Red Devils board have already started looking at possible replacements for the unhappy looking Dutchman.
Erik Ten Hag came to Old Trafford as one of the best managers in the game – but he has been unable to handle the pressures of managing a club like Man United and has struggled to get the results needed.
That has led to alot of reports that he is only a few games away from getting the sack – although the Manchester United board are more likely to keep hold of the Dutchman a couple more games before they make the decision on whether to let him go or not.
Cole believes a change is necessary and views former England boss Gareth Southgate as the ‘obvious choice’ to replace beleaguered Ten Hag. The former Englan boss was heavily criticised for his tactics, the dour nature of England’s display and how timid the team looks ahead of Euro 2024, but he has still been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
‘Gareth Southgate is the obvious choice for Manchester United,’ Cole told Paddy Power.
‘If you look at the ownership group, with Dan Ashworth – he worked with Southgate at the FA and it’s actually reminds me a lot with when Gareth took over at England and having to steady the waters.
‘The fans weren’t happy, and he managed to galvanise them and it might be the right place at the right time for Gareth and I hate talking about next managers when the manager is still in play but it’s really tough to look at Manchester United and – knowing how football is – know that they must be thinking about doing something.
‘Erik ten Hag is a top manager, and he’d walk away with his head high and silverware on the table – like he did at Ajax. He’ll get another job and that might suit his style a bit better.’

Southgate done a decent job as England Coach – but he needs to move over and let somebody take the international squad to that next level – this side is far too good to not be winning any trophies.
Is he right for Manchester United? That is a question only the Red Devils board will know.
ALLEGRI TALKS TO BE HELD?
There has been some fresh reports which have now claimed that the Manchester United board are desperate to open talks with Italian boss Massimo Allegri about replacing under-fire coach Erik Ten Hag as boss of the Red Devils, as speculation about his future continues to grow.
Ten Hag appears to have two games to save his job at Old Trafford after United’s poor start to the season and Sunday’s disastrous 3-0 defeat to Tottenham, in which they looked like a side that was heading in the wrong direction.
Several pundits have questioned why Manchester United are continuing to back the Dutchman in the aftermath of a performance against Spurs which was described as ‘disgusting’ and ’embarrassing’
Now – According to Football Insider, Manchester United may have added Massimiliano Allegri to their list of potential options to replace Erik ten Hag.
The 57-year-old multi-title winner has a significant CV for the liking of INEOS chiefs, as the Italian could emerge as a strong contender alongside others if Erik ten Hag leaves the club.

Look, winning that FA Cup last season gave Ten Hag another contract at Manchester United – but right now – he cannot get the best out of his players and it could cost him his job.
Man United have been very patient with the Dutchman and that is why he is still in charge at the club – and i believe that he will be given more games then just two to save his job – what is the point in sacking the Dutchman so early in the season? there is plenty of time to turn things around.
There will be alot of speculation about the future of Ten Hag – but at the end of the day – if he leaves he can be proud having won two trophies with the club already.
But we are not sure that Allegri will do any better – he has had his best days as a manager and could also fail to impress at Man United.
