Here is the daily roundup of Liverpool news and gossip

The agent of Everton star Richarlison has admitted that a meeting with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was not about the much talked about winger.

With Liverpool eyeing up possible summer signings as Klopp needs to continue improving the squad in certain areas, there has been some speculation in the media over the past few weeks which have suggested that Liverpool may try to raid their rivals and secure a deal for the £30 million rated Brazilian.

Richarlison joined Everton last summer from Watford and has been impressing for the Toffees, with his performances also catching the eye of Chelsea, Manchester United and even Tottenham, who are all in the market for another winger.

Klopp recently met agent Renato Velasco at his house and that sent media outlets wild with speculation that a potential move to Anfield for Richarlison, but the agent says he only met with Klopp as he was facilitating a meeting between the German and his former Mainz team-mate Marcos Weisshaupt.

“So my meeting with Klopp had nothing to do with Richarlison,” Velasco is quoted as telling Sport Witness.

“I am an agent of a player of Germany (Noah Weisshaupt), of Freiburg and Germany U20, where his father played with Klopp and they’re friends. So they did not see each other in time and I went to his house to take Marcos.

“It has nothing to do with Richarlison, the people who made the link have added one thing to another.” (READ MORE)

Former Manchester United winger Jesper Olsen has urged his old club to make a move and tru and acquire the services of Liverpool and Barcelona target Matthijs De Ligt from Ajax.

De ligt has been making a real name for himself over the past few seasons and is now regarded as one of the finest talents in world football, especially after helping Ajax reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, and beating off Real Madrid in the process.

His eye-catching performances for Ajax have caught the attentions of both Liverpool and Barcelona over the past few weeks, with speculation suggesting that both were ready to delve into their transfer kitties and meet the £60 million valuation that Ajax have placed on the head of De Ligt.

However, Olsen, who also played for Ajax, thinks he would be the perfect fit for United.

“No doubt about it [he could play for United],” Olsen told Omnisport. “Playing at Ajax, you have to be a quality player. So, of course, he could [play for United], no doubt about it.

Gunners boss Unai Emery has told Arsenal fans that he is on the lookout for player of the quality of Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk.

Despite his relatively impressive first season in England, in which he is challenging for both the Champions League spot and Europa League title, the Spaniard is already eyeing up possible summer signings as he looks to carry on his great start and push on for next season.

Liverpool smashed the world transfer record for a centre-half last January when they paid Southampton £75million for the Netherlands international, but he has become the best centre-back in world football right now and fully justified becoming the worlds most expensive, player, with some even suggesting that was an absolute bargain.

And Emery insists a coherent strategy is vital if the Gunners are to close the gap on title challengers Liverpool and Manchester City next season, and will look to acquire the type of players which could make an immediate impact on the side, just like Van Dijk.

‘I think we can improve first, by spending money to achieve players,’ said Arsenal’s head coach on the official website

‘In the past the club have done great work in watching players, finding and signing young players and developing our players in the academy.

‘I have big respect for our work, for our players in the academy. I want to develop the players here – giving them progress to achieve something at a big club like we are.

‘We can also achieve [buy] some players who are in other teams, who can come here and give us this performance – like Van Dijk with Liverpool.’ (READ MORE)

Former Leicester City defender Robert Huth has claimed Real Madrid could attempt to sign Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk in the coming transfer windows.

After months of speculation Liverpool managed to win the race to the signature of De Ligt just over 12 months ago to make the Dutchman the worlds most expensive defender when he officially signed for the Reds, and since then he has become arguably the best centre-half in world football.

His performances and leadership at the back for Liverpool have made the Reds one of the best defensive sides in Europe, and has also made them a force to be reckoned with as they chase a Premier League and Champions League double.

And Huth has come out and claimed that Liverpool should be worried about losing the big powerhouse in the coming windows as both Barcelona and Madrid will be casting their eyes on Van Dijk.

“I’d be surprised if these guys [Real Madrid and Barcelona] aren’t looking at him,” Huth told Starsport.

“There aren’t too many players [like him].
“Imagine him and [Raphael] Varane at Madrid. I know they’ve still got [Sergio] Ramos – and he’s obviously at the top of his game – but he’s considerably older than Van Dijk.

“Varane is a similar sort of age. Imagine them for five years at Madrid. Jesus, I’d definitely watch that!

“Liverpool are a great club, but there is a couple of clubs bigger in terms of world stature. Real are consistently competing for the Champions League and league titles.” (READ MORE)
