Edu has made Vieira admission – Raphinha offer submitted and Arsenal still interested in Calvert-lewin in Arsenal news of the day…

Arsenal are still interested in the possible signing of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer window – reports have claimed

There is no doubt in the media that Mikel Arteta will be handed some funds in order to sign a striker that will solve all their problems, and that can score the goals that will take them back to the top

That has led to all sorts of speculation that Arsenal are ready to pay the big money and bring Calvert-Lewin to the Emirates – despite the very poor season that he has had with the relegation threatened Everton.

The speculation about a move to the Emirates has died down a bit over the past few weeks as Arsenal have been working on completing the signings of Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos – who have both now confirmed their moves to London

But now IcFootballnews has learned that Arsenal will step up their attempts to add a new striker to the squad – and Calvert-Lewin is a man that is still high up on the shopping list

Despite the fact the club avoided relegation down to the Championship – Lewin does not want to be in another relegation battle next season and would prefer to join a club that is fighting for a place in Europe

Arsenal do have money to spend and it is believed that a few more signing will be on the way – and with the rumours that Arsenal are struggling to convince Gabriel Jesus to complete a move from Man City – DCL is a player that many fans would like to see arrive

Look, we all believe that Lampard does want to keep hold of Calvert-Lewin – he is a brilliantly gifted striker.

But will the EVERTON board reject an offer of £50 million if it came in? We do not think so

Arsenal are a massive club that just need a couple of big signings that will send a statement to the rest of the Premier League – who wouldnt want to join them

They need a powerful striker like DCL to lead that attack as someone small like Eddie Nketiah or Gabriel Jesus will not work in that attack – Arteta wants to play the Pep Guardiola way – but doesnt have the squad to do it

Arsenal are still interested in Calvert-Lewin and should make a move – it really is that simple

Raphinha offer made –

It has been claimed that Arsenal have now stepped up their attempts to sign Raphinha from Leeds now that the Fabio Vieira deal is done

After a few days of speculation and even fewer days of talks – Arsenal managed to agree a £34 million fee with Porto for one of the clubs most important and most influential players

He has been brought in to add a bit more creativity to this Arsenal side – but now that he has been officially signed up – the Gunners board have made their moves to try and wrap up a deal for Raphinha

The Brazil international joined Leeds from Ligue 1 side Rennes on a four-year deal in October 2020, contributing six goals and eight assists in 29 Premier League games in his debut campaign, while last season the player managed 11 goals and three assists in his 35 league matches

Raphinha has two years left on his contract and is not expected to sign a new deal at Elland Road – as he seeks to make that step up in the game and play for a side that is not fighting relegation every season

Barcelona also interested in Raphinha – whose agent is former Barca player Deco – but the fact that they are in financial trouble has meant that they have not been able to make an official move for the player just yet

And now reports on the Sky Sports website have claimed that Arsenal have made their first offer to try and secure a deal for Raphinha – believed to be close to that £50 million asking price that Leeds have placed on his head

If the reports are true and Arsenal have now entered the race to sign Raphinha, they will have to offer something special to beat the other clubs that are very much keen on the Brazilian star

They are one of the biggest clubs in the world – but are not playing Champions League football – which Raphinha wants – and are not challenging for the biggest trophies – which Raphinha wants

He is a special kind of player and will have a massive impact on that Arsenal side if he gets signed guys

Edu on Vieira deal –

Arsenal Technical Director Ed has opened up and revealed just why Arsenal decided to sign Fabio Vieira from Porto this summer

The 22-year-old Portuguese is the Gunners’ third summer arrival, after goalkeeper Matt Turner and Brazilian forward Marquinhos. Arsenal will pay £30m up front plus £4m in performance-related add-ons.

Arsenal teased the signing on their Twitter account by spelling out the were FABIO in the first letter of their previous five tweets.

And after seeing the deal get announced – Edu has opened up and announced his delight that the club have managed to secure the services of a player that has 14 assists last season

He told fans: “We’re so pleased to have completed the signing of Fabio from FC Porto. Fabio is a player with special qualities who is comfortable with the ball in the final third of the pitch.

” We are all looking forward to working with him and enjoying his future contribution to Arsenal.

“We will now continue to work hard and are looking forward to finishing this transfer window as strongly possible.”

There is no doubt that the lad comes to the Premier League as an exciting talent that COULD develop into a top-class star – and there is no doubt that his numbers from last season were impressive

But the Premier League is a massive step up to make and he will need time to settle – time to adapt to the English game and time to adapt to the way that Mikel Arteta likes to play the game

And we have seen that over the seasons foreign players do not get much time from the media to gets used to the Premier League – and the fans will be expecting too

This is a good signing – but not an impact signing that will get the rest of the Premier League worried
