Chelsea board get closure after £25 million fee OFFICIALLY agreed for Frenchman to make shock transfer move
Aston Villa have now agreed a deal in the region of around £25million to sign Chelsea linked Lucas Digne, with Anwar El Ghazi going the other way, according to Sky Sports.
There has been alot of rumours in the media over the past few weeks all suggesting that Digne has become a top target for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel after he lost Ben Chilwell for the rest of the season to injury.
Digne is regarded as one of the finest left-backs in the Premier League and there are many out there that firmly believe that he is now ready to test himself at the highest level with one of the big clubs.
Reports have suggested that Chelsea were eying up a deal until the end of the season, and then will decide if they will make the move a permanent one, with a fee of around £27 million the asking price
However, the Blues were reportedly taking too long to make a decision on a possible deal for Digne, and now it seems that he is on his way to join Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa for the next few seasons.
Rob Dorsett’s latest tweet on the situation that now will give Chelsea some closure is: ‘EXCL: avfc have now agreed a fee with efc for left back Lucas Digne.
‘Deal worth up to £25m.
‘Several days of negotiations, in which Villa have beaten off interest from cfc, whufc and nufc.
‘Digne is due in Birmingham later today to undergo a medical.
‘Big window for Villa.’
This is a massivce move from Villa and fans can be getting very excited about the rest of the season, Digne is a quality left-back. Chelsea must have a back-up plan because they need to add another defender to that back-line, but are not making moves
They have missed out on Digne, they really have
