Here is a roundup of the top West Ham news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –

West Ham United are ‘open’ to allowing defender Craig Dawson leave the club this January, it has been claimed

The veteran centre-back, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has made just five starts this season after struggling with injury and it has been claimed that he will be leaving the Hammers in the coming transfer windows

The 32-year-old has made 87 appearances for the Hammers, helping them finish in an impressive seventh and sixth place in the previous two Premier League seasons.

He was linked with Wanderers in the summer but a move failed to materialise – yet now it seems that they are keen to get a deal done and have made moves to try and secure a transfer deal.

However – Moyes has opened up and revealed that they have rejected an offer from Wolves for Dawson – admitting that is all he is able to say for now

Moyes said: “We’ve had an offer from Wolves, we’ve not accepted it and that’s as much as I can tell you.”

Moyes is not expecting much transfer activity at West Ham at all this month.

He added: “Nothing at the moment. We said in the summer we’d do most of our business then.

“We might do something in January if the right player is there but at the moment we’re going with what we’ve got.”

However – according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth – The Hammers are now open to doing a deal – he told GiveMeSport: “West Ham decided, look, Nayef Aguerd is injured, Kurt Zouma’s had a few injury problems, Ogbonna’s coming back from injury, we can’t afford to let Dawson go; hence Dawson stayed at the club (in the summer).

West Ham’s injury problems have eased a little bit since then; that’s why they’re open, I think, to allowing Dawson to leave. But I still think West Ham would want to bring in a replacement for Craig Dawson before allowing him to leave.”

Maguire move made –

Manchester United have rejected a loan offer from West Ham for Harry Maguire.

The England international starred at the World Cup for the Three Lions, but Luke Shaw has started over him at centre-back in Man United’s first two league games since the mid-season break.

There had been some speculation in the media that Chelsea are plotting a shock move for the Englishman this transfer window as they seek to cover their defensive issues and add another defender to the squad.

But it is the Hammers that have seemingly made the first move to try and get a deal done, according to the Daily Mail. who have claimed that the West Ham board contacted Man United over a possible loan deal for Maguire.

Nonetheless, Erik ten Hag wants to keep the defender for the remainder of the season and has rejected the advances of the London otfut

But amid the speculation – icfootballnews reported Iomie Stanley has encouraged the Hammers to make a move for the man he said: ‘ Maguire is not the type of player that Ten Hag likes to have at the back and it is easy to see why he is a player that could be allowed to leave.

‘The January window will not be the transfer season that he leaves and it is much more likely that he stays until the summer – but it will be interesting to see where he ends up’

‘But clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool will stay away – and that gives West Ham a good chance to try and get a deal done.

‘He is proven at the very highest level of the game – is a great leader and would suit the way that Day Moyes likes to play the game – he is perfect for West Ham.’

Antonio message sent –

Michail Antonio has opened up and offered some bleak words for West Ham‘s season so far.

After a brilliant season last year and a summer of spending – but things were expected from this Hammers side this season and hope of a Champions Push could be on the cards.

However – West Ham have failed to win in seven Premier League games since October 24 – collecting just one point out of 21 – to drop to second bottom in the Premier League – and now look to be in a real scrap to stay up.

And Antonio has opened up on the season so far – Speaking on the Footballers’ Football Podcast, he said: “We’ve changed the mark from let’s not get relegated to let’s push for the Champions League. We were jumping steps.

“We tried to change our philosophy. You can see, this season, we haven’t played the same way we’ve been playing the last two years. We’ve changed it slightly. We’ve brought in players to play through the thirds.

“Over the last couple of years, we’ve not really played much possession football. We kind of sat off teams and just countered. Because we’ve been up there in the top six, everyone up there plays possession football. They keep the ball, try to break teams down and score more free-flowing goals.

“You can see over the last few games; we’ve conceded more goals on counter-attacks than we ever had in the last two years. We’re open way more, expansive.

“Teams are countering us the way we would have countered them before. It’s a transition. We’re trying to transition to become a bigger team and, I’ve got to be honest, it ain’t working.”

IcFootballnews View…

It has been a very poor season for the Hammers so far – there is no doubt about that – but they have enough quality to get a winning run together and get away from that Relegation fight.
