West Ham announce Sept deal – Moyes makes midfielder decision – Boss honest about stars Hammers move

Here is a roundup of the top West Ham news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today –

Dutch giants Ajax has been honest about letting Mohammed Kudus join West Ham over the summer transfer window.

WEST HAM had brought in Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos this summer before a move was made to bring the exciting Kudus to the club in a deal that would cost £38 million.

Kudus has been persistently linked with a move to the Premier League over the last 12 months, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United all linked with a transfer move for the attacker.

West Ham instead have landed the coveted Ghana international who was sold on the project in east London by the club’s technical director Tim Steidten. And now the Ajax boss has opened up on the sale of his star man

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Boss Maurice Steijn has admitted they are already missing Kudus terribly following his switch to the Hammers.

“Kudus was a player people went to the stadium for, to see,” Steijan told Ziggo Sport.

“We will miss him, not least because he was starting to produce more goals and assists.”

Journalist Dean Jones recently claimed that Kudus would get Hammers fans bums off seats – he told GivemeSport: “West Ham United have come out of the window in good shape considering they have lost their best player and captain. The process has had its wobbles but the blend of Moyes targets and Steidten targets seems to have brought about a squad enhancement that fans can be excited about.

‘The signing of Mohammed Kudus has massive potential, and he will get fans off their seats. Their season domestically should look nothing like it did last term. I think top half is almost guaranteed and anything beyond that will be an achievement.”

Kudus revealed that he moved to WEST HAM because he loved the project at the club: ‘The project he presented to me was developing the club to the best possible level they can so he wants to sign new young talents, play good football, and that’s fits with my ambition and goal as a player,’ Kudus told West Ham’s official website.

‘I want to play in the Premier League, but I also want to play at a club that I know I can develop.

‘I just loved the project that was presented to me, and I think it fits well with my ambition and where I’m heading to.’

He continued: ‘My family always support me 100 per cent and advise me. Of course, it’s football, and I’m going to be on the pitch and have most of the experiences, so I just follow my gut feeling because most of my decisions I make, it’s from my stomach and what my gut feeling is telling me and it was telling me it was West Ham, so my family supported me 100 per cent.’

LINGARD DECISION MADE –

West Ham boss David Moyes has made his position on Jesse Lingard crystal clear ahead of a deal decision.

Lingard was a player that WEST HAM tried to sign last summer window, but he made the decision to take the money and make the move to Nottingham Forest in a move that shocked many in the Premier League.

However – that move has not quite worked out and he is now closing in on a move to the Hammers after they decided to reignite their interest in the midfielder and add a bit more depth to the squad,

A decision on a West Ham deal for free agent Jesse Lingard is due in the coming week before the club has to submit its squad to the Premier League, and Moyes has already made his position clear on whether or not the middfielder will be signed up.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

“Jesse’s doing quite well and he’s getting his shape back,” Moyes is quoted as saying by The Athletic

“But there will be no discussion on Jesse yet. When we’re ready, we will do; but he’s working hard and he’s shown a great attitude to his work.

“It’s taken a bit of time to get him back into condition.”

SHOULD WEST HAM GIVE LINGARD A CONTRACT?

The man still has something to offer the club and it would not harm the side by giving him a contract for the next 12 months, especially with the European games that the club will have this season.

He made the mistake by not joining the club last summer, something that he regrets, but he has been working hard to earn himself a contract now and we are sure David Moyes will give him one.

He could add something to theWEST HAM side, even if it is off the bench every week or in cup competitions.

WEST HAM CONFIRMS DEAL –

Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club are delighted to confirm that Keenan Appiah-Forson has joined the club from WEST HAM.

The midfielder has seen some first-team action in the UEFA Conference League last season, and also appeared for the Hammers in the pre-season friendly against Redbridge in July.

West Ham posted on the club website: ‘The 21-year-old made 32 appearances across the 2022/23 season for the U21s, the most matches played by anyone in the development squad last term.

‘Appiah-Forson would add another first-team appearance too, coming on as a substitute in the UEFA Europa Conference League Group B win away to FCSB in November 2022, having previously made his senior debut as a late substitute in the 1-0 UEFA Europa League Group H defeat by GNK Dinamo Zagreb in December 2021.

‘He will now join Ben Strevens’ side for the 2023/24 campaign, with the Daggers currently sat in 13th place in the standings after six matches played.

‘Everyone at West Ham United wishes Keenan every success in his loan spell with Dagenham.’

Appiah-Forson is at that stage of his career now that he needs to make a choice, stay at West Ham and hope that he gets a chance in the coming seasons, or leave the club and try to forge a career away from WEST HAM

D&R will give him an opportunity to play on a weekly basis and hopefully impress a few sides, as it seems that he will not get the opportunity to be a regular starter with West Ham.

This is a good move for the lad to make – and a good decision from D&R to take him on.
