West Ham backed to complete £100m DEAL – Fans told Moyes wants defender – Antonio claim made
Here is a roundup of the top West Ham news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed –
West Ham could still secure £100million for Declan Rice this summer – That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus
Over the past few seasons Declan Rice has developed into one of the best players at the club – and one of the most impressive midfielders that the Premier League has to offer.
He really is the leader at the Hammers and a man that they are hoping to keep at the club for as long as they are possibly too – but that has not stopped speculation regarding his long-term future at the club
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the player – and are seemingly winning the race – but again Arsenal fans have been told that the club are in a very good position to seal a deal for Rice.
Now – McManus claims the club can still secure a hefty fee for Rice despite him having less than 18 months left on his contract: “West Ham won’t let him go for nothing, that much I do know,” McManus told Football Insider
“He’s their best and most important player but there has to be a balance. West Ham know they can’t let him go for nothing because he will just walk away if that’s what it comes to.
“I think £100million could be a decent price because the guy is unbelievable and the club need to cover themselves.
“Take him out and what happens? It’s not great for them. He’s the captain, the one they look to when things aren’t going well.
“You take someone like that out of a team and it can all fall apart. That has to be the worry for them now.
“After a few seasons of Europe they could be back to relegation fights and that’s not where that club should be.“
Antonio decision made –
West Ham have now reportedly made the decision to keep hold of powerhouse striker Michail Antonio this January window.
After a brilliant season last year and a summer of spending – but things were expected from this Hammers side this season and hope of a Champions Push could be on the cards.
However – West Ham have failed to win in seven Premier League games since October 24 – collecting just one point out of 21 – to drop to second bottom in the Premier League – and now look to be in a real scrap to stay up.
The January signing of Danny Ings has led to some rumours in the media claiming that West Ham will not look to offload Antonio as he will no longer be needed at London Stadium.
However – according to Dean Jones – West Ham have now decided to keep hold of Antonio because the injury to Ings means that he will now be needed for the next couple of weeks at least.
Antonio recently opened up on the season so far – Speaking on the Footballers’ Football Podcast, he said: “We’ve changed the mark from let’s not get relegated to let’s push for the Champions League. We were jumping steps.
“We tried to change our philosophy. You can see, this season, we haven’t played the same way we’ve been playing the last two years. We’ve changed it slightly. We’ve brought in players to play through the thirds.
“Over the last couple of years, we’ve not really played much possession football. We kind of sat off teams and just countered. Because we’ve been up there in the top six, everyone up there plays possession football. They keep the ball, try to break teams down and score more free-flowing goals.
“You can see over the last few games; we’ve conceded more goals on counter-attacks than we ever had in the last two years. We’re open way more, expansive.
“Teams are countering us the way we would have countered them before. It’s a transition. We’re trying to transition to become a bigger team and, I’ve got to be honest, it ain’t working.”
Defender wanted –
West Ham United are targeting new centre-back additions in the final days of the January transfer window, fans have been told.
The Hammers spent some serious money in the summer transfer window in signing players that they believed would give them a puch towards that Champions League places.
However – that has not worked out and the club are in the middle of a relegation that that nobody could have expected – which has led to the signing of Proven Premier League star Danny Ings joining the club.
But the window still has a few days to go before it closes and now Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that the club will not want to sign a new centre-back before the window closes.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones claimed: “At the moment, a centre-back is something they want in and those players all have the potential to help fix that problem.”

The Hammers certainly need to add a few more players to the squad or it could continue to be a difficult season for the club and the fans.
We are not sure who they are keen to bring in – but they need to make sure that it is a player that can have more of an impact than most of the summer signings managed.
West Ham fans are hoping that players arrive – but they will just be hoping that David Moyes can start getting teh results that the club need in order to get back up that Premier League table – they should not be where they are.
