West Ham can sign Barca star – £40M star agrees Hammers move – Italian flying in to complete summer move

Atalanta are close to agreeing a deal to sign West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Scamacca joined WEST HAM in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £35 million and David Moyes had hoped that the Italian would be the man that could score 20 goals a season.

However – he failed to live upto the hype for West Ham and did not impress like many had hoped for, and that had led to many reports in the media that he wants to leave the Premier League and make a move back to Italian football.

Inter Milan were the latest name to show an interest in getting Scamacca and have even made a move to get a deal done, according to Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano,

However – it seems that he will not be making the move to Inter and will instead join rivals Atalanta.

WHAT IS THE LATEST – 

Sky in Italy are reporting Scamacca will fly to Italy on Saturday for a medical and to formalise personal terms.

The deal is worth €30m – €25m up front and €5m in add-ons.

SHOULD WEST HAM SELL SCAMACCA?

Look, if he is actually departing the Hammers  -it is easy to see why – he just has been unable to handle the Premier League and make the impact that many people had hoped for.

Right now West Ham should not sell Scamacca simply because they do not have a replacement lined up, or at the club, so letting him go could be a massive mistake.

But if he wants to go – if he wants to take the easy challenge and head back to Italian football – the Hammers just need to make sure that they do sign an adequate replacement

ALVAREZ TO SIGN – 

West Ham have stepped up their interest in Ajax star Edson Alvarez, talkSPORT understands.

West Ham have been doing no business in the transfer market this summer – they have not signed anybody that can come in and help improve the side for the start of next season.

However – it is expected that the board will look to get some transfer business done in the coming weeks – and Alvarez is a player that West Ham have been eyeing up for some time.

WHAT IS THE LATEST – 

The 25-year-old Mexican international has spent the last four seasons in Amsterdam, racking up 147 appearances for the club and scoring 13 goals while winning two Eredivisie titles.

According to the reports, West Ham could land him for a fee of around £40 million – less than half of the fee that the Hammers received from the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal

The midfielder is open to the move with David Moyes keen to bring the player to the London Stadium this summer.

Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat recently confirmed that the midfielder was one of the players that he expected to leave this summer.

‘There are clubs that have informally enquired about him. I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world,’ Mislintat told Ajax Life.

‘Perhaps the interest in not as serious as everyone thinks.’

Mislintat says it is possible both players could leave but warns the longer clubs leave it, the higher their asking price will be.

‘There is no fixed deadline, but there are agreements we must have to get replacements if we have not already done so proactively’ he told Aglemeen Dagblad. Their stay or sale also depends on what we will do next.

‘The best thing for is if Kudus and Alvarez stay, then we keep two top players. But it is also possible that one goes, or both.

‘It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles. As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up.’

DEST ON THE MOVE – 

Barcelona have reportedly decided to sell long-term West Ham target and USMNT star Sergio Dest this summer window.

WEST HAM had a mixed season last year and narrowly fended off Relegation towards the end of the campaign and then exciting fans by winning that European trophy.

But they lost star man Declan Rice this summer after he made the decision to join Arsenal in a deal that could be worth £105 million – and they are looking to improve a number of areas over the next few months.

WHAT IS THE LATEST – 

Dest has now returned to his parent club after a loan spell at AC Milan, but Barca are inviting offers for the 22-year-old full-back. They snapped him up from Ajax in 2020, but are ready to cut their losses after 72 appearances in all competitions.

England could be Dest’s next port of call, as The Athletic reports that the Catalan club are ready to cut their losses, putting a €10 million (£9m/$11 price tag on the 22-year-old. Another loan move isn’t out of the question, either.

WOULD HE BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR WEST HAM?

Going by his season last year in Seria A – the injuries that he suffered – no he would not be a good signing for WEST HAM and they should actually stay away from a possible deal for Dest.

But before he signed for Barcelona – he was wanted by some of the best clubs and if David Moyes could get the best out of the man – he would be a very solid addition to the side.

And the fact that he had such a poor season may mean that West Ham could get him for a bargain – so it wouldnt be a big risk to take.
