Italian confirms West Ham ‘dream’ of signing midfielder after £55M offer made
West Ham United “dream” of signing Fulham star Joao Palhinha this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Fulham midfielder enjoyed a stunning season and his performances has caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. he quickly become an integral part in Marco Silva’s side.
With Manuel Lanzini released and Declan Rice sold by WEST HAM to Arsenal in a deal worth £105 million – boss David Moyes knows that he needs to make some signings that will help improve the squad.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
According to a recent report on 90min, a second bid has been made by the Hammers board as they attempt to finally fill the void that has been left by Declan Rice.
However – the report adds that the £55 million offer was shot down by the west London side for the 28-year-old, with Fulham holding out for £60m for Palhinha.
Now – Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Hammers chase for the midfielder.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
According to Romano, speaking to CaughtOffside, he said: “Monaco want Zakaria, they have submitted their first bid for the player. It’s now up to West Ham if they want to bid again after initial proposal was rejected by Juventus 15 days ago,” said Romano.
“Zakaria is still assessing his options, and Monaco could be an interesting option for him as their new manager Adi Hutter knows him well.
“James Ward-Prowse is on their list, and Scott McTominay too. Edson Alvarez is also appreciated but is not considered a priority now, as far as I understand.
“West Ham’s dream target in midfield is Fulham’s Joao Palhinha, but that looks like being a very expensive deal.”
SHOULD WEST HAM FORK OUT ON PALHINHA?
Look, the man had a decent season last year – but he is not worth £60 million that is for sure and the Hammers would be paying far too much money if they got him for that money.
He would be a good signing – but WEST HAM cannot get ripped off simply because they need to sign some players that is for sure guys.
This is getting crazy with the amount of money that clubs are valuing their players and we do not believe that Palhinha is the type of player that you should be paying £60 million for.
Get him for £30 million he would be good – anymore than that, it would be a waste.
