West Ham issues £30M transfer message – Moyes wants Dutchman – Defender ready to sign and move

Here is a roundup of the top West Ham news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed –

David Moyes’s WEST HAM United are interested in signing Ian Maatsen from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.

Maatsen is a lad that Mauricio Pochettino has used in the opening weeks of the new Premier League season after the Dutch lad had an impressive pre-season with the Blues.

There was alot of interest in the Dutchman this summer, with the likes of Burnley and Newcastle United just two clubs that were reportedly interested in a deal for the defender, but in the end, he stayed put as he wants to fight for his place in the side.

Chelsea want Maatsen to sign a new contract at the club after he failed to leave on deadline day. But his future depends on whether he will agree to a new deal, as his current contract runs out at the end of the season

But now – according to journalist Rudy Galetti, WEST HAM are now planning to make a move for the Dutchman in the coming window.

David Moyes is keen to bolster his squad in the January window and is reportedly a massive fan of the Chelsea star.

After such an impressive pre-season for Chelsea and then to be included in the opening games of the weekend, it came as a massive shock on deadline day that the Blues agreed to sell Maatsen.

But the fact they have spent so much money over the last couple of transfer windows – they need to make money when possible, in order to help finance the books and Maatsen is seemingly a player that they will allow to leave if the money is offered.

Look, he will probably sign that new contract as he wants to prove himself at Chelsea, but at the end of the day, if a club makes a big offer in January or at the end of the season, the Board will allow him to leave.

Frank McAvennie has insisted West Ham must only sign Hugo Ekitike in January if he is able to star for David Moyes.

Michail Antonio, who seemingly came close to leaving the Hammers in the summer transfer window, is very much the leading man in the final third under David Moyes.

Former Liverpool and Burnley man Danny Ings meanwhile is his reserve, with youngster Divin Mubama another option for the East London club, but David Moyes is keen to bolster that front-line in the coming windows.

And WEST HAM’s search for a striker could be accelerated by Michail Antonio’s recent knee injury sustained on international duty with Jamaica.

Ekitike is a man that West Ham were very keen on during the summer transfer window, but despite all the speculation and rumours that the Hammers were getting close to a deal, he chose not to make the move to London.

McAvennie told Football Insider: “They’ve brought in Scamacca in the past – he was never a West Ham player. Never has been, never will.

“Now I’m thinking – what if this boy, Ekitike, is the same?

“West Ham play a certain way. If you don’t bring in the right players, then what’s the point in spending money for nothing?

“They did it with Scamacca, they’ve done it with Ings. Ings can’t play the way West Ham want to

“Fans have heard it all before. It’s got to be someone who is suited to the way Moyes wants to play, even if he is only staying at the club until the end of this season.

“It’s counter-attacking football, and if Ekitike isn’t a striker who can do that – then what’s the point? I’ve heard this from a good source – David only wants a striker who fits his system’

It has been claimed that WEST HAM target Ian Maatsen is ready to sign a new deal with Chelsea, and then look to leave on loan straight away in the January window.

After an impressive pre-season with the Blues, Mauricio Pochettino gave the young man some much needed game time in the early stages of the season, and gave him an opportunity to prove himself.

However – over the past few months the Dutchman has found it really hard to get the minutes that he had been hoping for and has spent much of his time watching from the sidelines.

That has led to all sorts of speculation in the media that he may look to leave Chelsea in the January window, with the likes of West Ham reportedly interested in a potential deal

Now the Football Insider website has claimed that despite the rumours that he wants out, Maatsen will look to sign a new contract at Chelsea and it is believed he could head out on loan once again in the winter window, should he put pen to paper on a new deal

Maatsen enjoyed a successful loan at Burnley last season as they were promoted back to the Premier League, notching four goals and six assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

If the reports are true and Maatsen is seeking a move away from the club in the January window, it will be a very wise decision from the lad to make as he needs the minutes to improve and develop.

There are so many players at Chelsea, so many options for Mauricio Pochettino and that is why some of the younger stars are being forgotten about.
