West Ham keen on midfielder – £55K-a-week star to make decision – Hammers want Powerhouse striker
Here is a roundup of the top West Ham news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed –
West Ham United are keeping tabs on Middlesbrough loanee Sam Greenwood, according to a report by TEAMtalk.
West Ham have had a decent start to the Premier League season and can be happy with some of the performances that the club have managed to put in over the last few months of the season.
But the January window will give boss David Moyes the opportunity to delve into that transfer kitty and add a few more players to the side and Greenwood is reportedly a player that he is being linked with.
A handful of other current Premier League sides are also looking at the 21-year-old and weighing up whether or not he would be a good fit ahead of the opening of the January window.
And amid all the speculation – FLW’s Ben Wignall has opened up and had his say on Greenwood possibly making the move to WEST HAM – he said: ‘Greenwood has plenty of technical ability, there’s no denying that, but the step up to a club like West Ham could be too soon.
‘There’s every chance that one day in the future, Greenwood could be good enough to play for a club chasing the European spots of the Premier League, but just not yet.
‘He was a bit-part player at Leeds last season as he mainly came off the bench in his 18 top flight appearances, and Daniel Farke did not think he was good enough to be starting for the Whites this season.
‘His performances for Middlesbrough have been impressive and confidence-boosting, but playing for a team like West Ham is a lot different.
‘David Moyes has plenty of options in the roles that Greenwood likes to play as well, such as Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Maxwel Cornet, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals among others – it just doesn’t seem like the 21-year-old would be a necessary addition so they should steer clear and spend their money elsewhere.’
BENRAHMA DECISION –
Dean Jones has claimed that Said Benrahma has a tough decision coming his way ahead of the January window.
Although WEST HAM are not necessarily under pressure to cash in on Benrahma as there is still more than two-and-a-half years remaining on his £55,000-per-week deal, Saudi Arabian clubs have been linked.
And the reputable journalist feels the Algerian will have a big decision to make during the January transfer window as the lure of all the money that will be offered to him may be too much to turn down.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It seems like an obvious link. I’ve been struggling for a while to really be convinced that Benrahma has got a future at West Ham.
“But, then again, if you look at the David Moyes situation right now, if he were to leave West Ham, maybe Benrahma would get a new lease of life.
“I’m sure there is part of him thinking he has got to leave, but there will also be that slight hesitation just in case David Moyes does end up leaving and he has the chance to play under a manager that will perhaps appreciate what he can bring to the team a bit more.
“I think that’ll be the one thing that has him a little bit torn. But, certainly, Saudi Arabia does seem like a proposal coming his way.”
The best decision for Benrahma would be to stay put and still compete in the Best League in the world, but if Saudi clubs offer him the kind of wages he may never get at WEST HAM –
And to be honest – West Ham could also get alot more money for Benrahma then they may from a European club, meaning they will have some cash to splash.
MOYES WANTED EDOUARD –
It has been claimed that WEST HAM are interested in signing Odsonne Edouard in the January transfer window.
Michail Antonio, who seemingly came close to leaving the Hammers in the summer transfer window, is very much the leading man in the final third under David Moyes.
Former Liverpool and Burnley man Danny Ings meanwhile is his reserve, with youngster Divin Mubama another option for the East London club, but David Moyes is keen to bolster that front-line in the coming windows
And according to Football Transfers, West Ham are interested in Edouard and are considering making an approach for him during the upcoming transfer window in the new year.
Edouard has already scored five goals from his opening 12 appearances this season and is looking like a player that is finally adapting to life in the Premier League and at the highest level.
FootballTransfers has been told that the deal could either be a loan or permanent, although there is no indication yet how much WEST HAM are prepared to spend on the forward.”
The January window will give Moyes the opportunity to add another striker to that attack – what they have at the moment will not get them into a European place – they need to invest.
Edouard is a very solid Premier League player that can score goals – but he has not been as prolific as many would like and that is why he may not be the best option to lead that Hammers attack.
But it will be interesting to see just what happens when the window opens up.
