West Ham United could now sign Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley for nothing this summer after being offered the chance to sign the midfielder

Barkley made just 11 appearances for Chelsea last season, but seven of those have come from the substitutes’ bench as he struggled to make any real impact under Thomas Tuchel

Despite the fact he is one of the most gifted players at the club, he has never been able to make any sort of impact on the side and has seen his career take a turn for the worse after his arrival from Everton

There has been alot of transfer interest in his services over the past few transfer windows – and West Ham and one of the clubs that are reportedly interested in a possible deal

Boss David Moyes is keen to keep improving his squad this transfer window and sign players that could make a real difference to the squad – and it has been recently claimed that they have been offered the chance to sign the Englishman

The Sun now claim that Blues owner Todd Boehly is ready to offer the 28-year-old a pay-off to terminate his contract early – and That would enable him to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer this summer.

Barkley was an incredibly exciting young talent when he burst onto the scene at Goodison Park as a teenager a decade ago – but he has never realised his true potential and his time with Chelsea has been a long and arduous struggle.

He is not the same player that he once was and although he would add a bit more depth to the squad – he is not the kind of star that would help West Ham challenge for Europe again next season

But if they get him on a free deal – there is no harm in that is there?
