David Moyes ‘will allow’ unit to leave West Ham in January window

Noel Whelan has claimed he can’t see West Ham standing in the way of an exit for Craig Dawson in January
The veteran centre-back, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has made just five starts this season after struggling with injury and it has been claimed that he will be leaving the Hammers in the coming transfer windows
And it has been claimed that new Aston Villa boss Unai Emery will be in the market for an experienced central defender as he looks to get the club higher up the Premier League – and solve their defensive issues
Now – amid the speculation – Whelan backed David Moyes to be “very honest” with the veteran about where his future lies – and believed the Hammers will not stand in the way if he wants to leave in the January window
He told Football Insider: “No, I think Moyes will be very fair with Dawson.
“The two of them have been very good with one another. Out of loyalty and respect, I can see him giving Dawson that opportunity to leave – if he is no longer needed.
“If they do need him then I’m sure conversations will be taking place
“But players at his age want to play regular football, and if he wants to move closer to his family too – I can’t see the club standing in the way of that.
“I think Moyes is one of these managers who is very honest with his players, and we’ve seen that over the years.”

We are pretty sure that West Ham will want to get something for Dawson in the January window rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season – so if he leaves – it will probably be best for all around
