Impressed Liverpool star Wijnaldum opens up and sends message to perfect Van Dijk replacement

Liverpool midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum says hailed he performance of Fabinho at the back.

The versatile Brazilian stepped into Virgil Van Dijk’s shoes for the Reds’ Champions League opener on Wednesday night, and put in a solid showing in Amsterdam to help keep the Dutch giants at bay.

Van Dijk’s ACL injury and the persistent injury troubles of Joel Matip has led to alot of speculation in the media that Liverpool will now look towards the transfer window in January to sign a replacement for the giant and powerful Dutchman.

But, after the game Jurgen Klopp said he was ‘really pleased’ with Fabinho’s performance and revealed the Brazilian midfielder ‘actually really likes’ playing in that position.

And now Wijnaldum says hailed he performance of Fabinho after his performance against Ajax: “Fabinho does great as a centre back,” said Wijanldum on the SUN. “I think in the games that he’s played there we didn’t concede goals.

“And also the way how he’s playing is like he’s (been) playing there his whole life. It’s great to have a player who can play in different positions. He does it well in all of them he plays, so it’s a good thing for the team.”

Look, if Liverpool do not go into that transfer kitty in the January window to try and sign a new defender, then they should have enough quality in that back-line to cover the absence of Van Dijk.

However, if they want to regain that Premier League title by the end of the season, then they definitely need to improve that back-line, it is costing the club points and losing Van Dijk will not help that.
