£100M valued attacker ‘keen on summer move’ and open to Liverpool move!
Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is open to the idea of a summer move after being linked with a move to Liverpool.
Gordon has had a decent season with Newcastle this season and impressed for the Toon – but with all the speculation that Mohamed Salah could depart Liverpool at some point in the near future – Gordon has been linked with a shock move to Merseyside.
Newcastle have no interest in selling one of their star players, but now face a fight to convince Gordon to stay at St. James’ Park.
According to The Telegraph, the Euro 2024 star has had his ‘head turned’ by the Reds and was ‘extremely keen’ on moving to Anfield before the deal collapsed, so if now open to a big club move in the coming months.
Gordon’s interest in joining Liverpool is understandable given that they are his boyhood club and he spent some time in their academy.
However – amid the speculation and rumours – reporter Pat Nevin recently admitted that he would not be shocked if Anthony Gordon signed for LIVERPOOL: “I don’t think Evertonians have forgiven him for what happened at the end of his career there yet! Anthony is quite special, he breaks lines all the time and he reminds me of Jack Grealish before he went to Manchester City from Aston Villa,” he said via Prime Slots UK.
“This rumour doesn’t surprise me, nor do I think it should be dismissed. He has phenomenal skills, and he has the ability to beat players. Too often, wingers will bring the ball up the pitch, before turning back and laying off a simple pass and removing the danger.
“You don’t pay 100 million quid for a winger to stop and turn back, you pay that money for someone that can break lines, drag people across and create.
“These players are a rarity in modern football and that is who the money is being spent on. Mbappe is the most obvious one, but teams are desperate for players that can do that in their side.
“How long has Mo Salah got left at LIVERPOOL, and is he still as dynamic as he once was back in the day? He’s still brilliant, but he won’t last forever and Liverpool need to think about the future.
“Anthony will go by people, he will create and he will also score. It would not shock me at all, because I think he is that good.”
