Listening Man United? Willian has big Chelsea transfer message for Red Devils

Chelsea star Willian has dismissed claims he wanted to leave and join the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United in the summer.

Despite being a big part of the Chelsea side over the last few seasons, there had been speculation that Willian wanted to leave Stamford Bridge as he did not want to work under Antonio Conte any longer.

And much of the rumours over the last few months linked him with a move to United, as boss Jose Mourinho made no secret of his desire to sign up the Brazilian international.

Willian played under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and even admitted he hoped to work with the Portuguese manager again, despite the fact he told Chelsea fans that he was fully commited to the cause.

But now Willian has come out and stated that he never intended to leave Chelsea during the summ transfer window.

‘A lot of people they say a lot of things in the press, but I never said that I want to leave Chelsea, never,’ he said.

‘Always I say that I want to stay at Chelsea as long as possible, and I am happy to stay here.

‘When I arrive here my plan was to stay here as long as possible and now I am here five years I hope stay five more!

‘I know I have two years of contract left but I hope to stay more years in the Premier League.

‘I am very happy to be here five years. I have won titles and played a lot of games with a lot of happy moments, and a few sad moments as well but that is part of football.’

Here is what we think.

We see it time and time again, players coming out and admitting all rumours were fake, I never wanted to leave, I’m happy here etc etc etc.

But Willian is just saying all these things because he is playing regularly in a winning team, and when he gets dropped from the starting line-up, he will soon change his tune.

The rumours he wanted to leave came from solid sources, and you don’t admit ‘I want to work with Mourinho again’ if you are completely happy at Chelsea.

Willian is a great player but come next summer, he will be happy at a new club when he leaves.
