Would Arsenal welcome big Frenchman?, Italian tells Arsenal £80m man ‘heading for January move’, £26m midfielder tells Arsenal fans he will be a Gunner in January
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.com
Lucas Torreira has indicated that he has no desire to leave the Arsenal during the January transfer window
Torreira completed a £26million move from Sampdoria to Arsenal last summer and the 23-year-old had a promising debut season in north London, making 50 appearances in all competitions.
But so far this season the 23-year old has struggled to kick on after his great first season and only managed a handful of starts under the guidance of Unai Emery, who failed to get the club back challenging for titles and playing in the Champions League.
Reports last month suggested Torreira was contemplating his future amid interest from Napoli and AC Milan, but in a wide-ranging interview with Arsenal’s official website he suggested he was committed to the north London club.
He said: ‘My goal for the future is to play. I’m 23. All footballers want to play, to compete, to fight for your club. I want to help my team-mates to achieve our aims this season.’ On the adjustments he has had to make to his game in order to adapt the demands of English football, he added: ‘The main thing for me to adapt to was the tempo here. ‘When I arrived, I felt like I was lacking something, like the game was being played at a much faster pace.
‘But I worked hard, showed dedication and with the help of everyone at the club, I got myself on par with my teammates and opponents. Now, I feel very comfortable.
‘On a technical level, I think I’ve really improved and learned so many things. That’s mainly down to the calibre of players I have around me and train with every day.
‘It’s also down to the standard of player I’m coming up against every weekend.’
Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha could leave Crystal Palace in January, according to Italian football agent Federico Pastorello.
Ex-Gunners boss Uani emery was linked with a whole host of players during the summer transfer window, and many fans were excited to see what kind of players that the Spaniard would bring in to make a real statement to the Premier League and rest of the top four challengers.
But despite all the excitement, despite all the rumours and despite all the speculation, the Spaniard failed to acquire the type of players that could come in and make a serious impact on the side, and send a real statement to the rest of the Premier League, signings like Zaha.
Zaha was in the headlines over the summer transfer window for all the right reasons, as some of the biggest clubs in the game showed an interest in the wingers signature after another impressive campaign for Palace.
However, despite admitting on numerous occasions that he is interested in a big move, Palace stuck a massive price tag on the head of the winger and nobody wanted to pay the massive £80 million price tag that was placed on the winger.
And ahead of the January transfer in just a few weeks time, Pastorello has opened up and claimed that a player like Zaha needs to be at a top club and could in fact leave Palace if the right offer arrives in the winter transfer window.
Pastorello believes Zaha represents a “good opportunity” in a winter window he expects to be busier than usual, telling the Sky Sports website: “I think about is Wilfried Zaha.
“I think he really deserves a new challenge and a top club, because he is really a top player.
“It is surprising me because I read about a possible move in the summer, but he stayed again. But this season he is proving that he is very focused and concentrated. So think he could be another good opportunity in the January market.”
Louis Saha has claimed that Gunners hero Patrick Vieira is the perfect man to replace Unai Emery at the Arsenal. But would he be welcome?
Emery finally got the boot from the Arsenal hierarchy after months of calls by the Gunners fans to get rid of the Spaniard, who failed to achieve his goals of getting Arsenal some silverware or back inside the top four and Champions League football.
His style of football did not fit at the Emirates, his tactics were all over the place and he simply could not connect with the Arsenal fans during his 18-month spell at the club.
And that has led to some speculation in the media which has suggested that Vieira could be the man that comes in and leads the Gunners, having been linked with a move to the club in recent transfer windows.
‘I would love to see Patrick Vieira as Arsenal’s next manager; there are other contenders for the job but none as suitable as him,’ Saha TOLD BWIN.
‘I’m not saying that because he is my friend, he has done a great job in management over the years.
‘He has the heart of an Arsenal player and that’s what the club needs. He is the perfect fit for this Arsenal squad.
‘I’ve always been surprised that more ex-Arsenal players haven’t been involved with Arsenal as coaches under [Arsene] Wenger.
‘When I saw Patrick at Man City, it didn’t make any sense to me – he would have been perfect at Arsenal.
‘I used to hate Arsenal and that was because of Patrick and his team-mates; they were impossible to play against.
‘Arsenal need that character back and he would be the best fit to take Arsenal forward.’
