Would Arsenal fans welcome ‘perfect signing’ for £43 million this transfer window?
Arsenal would be the ‘perfect club’ for Hakim Ziyech – if Mesut Ozil wasn’t on the club’s books, that’s according to journalist Marcel van der Kraan, but would he be welcome?
There has been alpot speculation that Mikel Arteta is seeking to spend a big amount of money and bring in a few more players by the end of the transfer window, with Ziyech a name that has been mentioned as a possible arrival at the Emirates.
The 26-year-old was one of the standout stars of Ajax’s squad last season, weighing in with 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 games from a wide midfield position as he helped Ajax clinch their first League title in five years while also reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for the winger during the summer window, but the Arsenal made the decision to make a move and bring Nicolas Pepe to the club in a deal worth £72 million, but despite some glimpses of his talent, he has not yet lived upto expectations.
Tottenham are also monitoring the midfielder, but Van Der Kraan says the 26-year-old’s preferred destination would be the red side of north London.
“I know that the player is keen on a club like Arsenal, who have always played good football,” he told Sky Sports’ Transfer Window Podcast.
“Manchester City also under Pep Guardiola play a kind of Johan Cruyff-Ajax style of football, as do Barcelona. But not all of these clubs will line up for him.
“I think that if Arsenal did not have Mesut Ozil, they would have been the perfect club for him.”
WOULD ARSENAL FANS WELCOME HIS ARRIVAL?
Look, Arsenal have a decent attacking side already, that is for sure, and Arteta does not need to spend a whole bunch of money improving the attack. So he needs to save his money and bring in players that will improve the defensive side of the game.
Arsenal have issues at the back and Arteta needs to get them sorted before he tries to sign a player like Ziyech. So even though Ziyech would give the club something different up top, why spend £43 million on a winger when they could spend that on a player like Nathan Ake?
SORT YOUR DEFENCE OUT FIRST MIKEL, THEN WORK ON THE ATTACK.
