Wow! Dutch Icon issues transfer message to £25 million man ahead of proposed Arsenal move

Wesley Sneijder has urged Ajax star Andre Onana not to join Arsenal during this summers transfer window

The 25-year-old was banned for a year by UEFA in February after testing positive for Furosemide, but appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport maintaining that he accidentally took medicine that was prescribed for his wife.

Onana has been unable to train with Ajax since February due to the suspension and has been working on his fitness with a personal trainer on local pitches in Amsterdam, but his appeal was heard last week and the verdict, announced on Thursday, has seen his ban reduced from 12 to nine months.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be ready to sell Bernd Leno and bring in Onana as his replacement, with the Cameroonian seen as a better fit for the brand of football – namely playing out from the back – he wants Arsenal to play.

But Sneijder – who came through the Ajax academy before moving to Real Madrid – believes a move to one of Spain’s big two would be a better fit.

‘I expect him to leave,’ Sneijder told Veotbal International Live on Friday.

‘I think he is a great goalkeeper. One of the top in Europe? Yes, certainly.

‘I’d rather not see him at Arsenal. It’s a great club, but they have slipped in recent years. I’d rather see him play at Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Onana is a quality stopper and his career may have been ruined by what has happened. But it will be interesting to see what happens with the possible deal as he will be bring alot of headlines to the club if he arrives
