Wow! Frenchman stunningly tells Blues fans he ‘was tempted’ getting Chelsea transfer deal done after contact made
Wesley Fofana has revealed he was approached with an opportunity to leave CHELSEA over the summer and he was very tempted to take it after failing to make the impact at Stamford Bridge that he had hoped for since his move from Leicester City.
The 23-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since summer of 2022 but injuries have meant that he has made just 23 appearances for the Blues and he has really struggled to make the impression that many fans had hoped for.
That led to alot of reports in the media that a move back to French football could be on the cards for the defender after giants Marseille made contact over a possible deal with the Blues for Fofana.
Fofana was born in Marseille and is a fan of the Ligue 1 side, so when he had contact with the club he admits he was tempted by the opportunity to move home, but ultimately made the decision to stay at CHELSEA.
‘I had a conversation that really touched me,’ Fofana told Free Foot. ‘I would be lying if I said I didn’t weigh it up. It was from [Mehdi] Benatia, Marseille’s sporting director.
‘It touched me and I think everyone knows why. I thought about it but there you go, the current objective is to succeed at Chelsea, to try and play regularly, and to establish myself at my club.’
