Wow! Gunners fans shocked after legend Wright announces these fears for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted he already fears for Mikel Arteta’s job at the Emirates.
After months and months AND MONTHS of speculation, Arsenal finally made the big decision to give Emery the boot after 18 months in charge of the club, and bring in Arteta as his successor, despite the fact that the Spaniard ha snow managerial experience at the top of the game.
But he has brought hope and optimism back to the club and after Arsenal managed to keep hold of their biggest players while adding a couple of new faces during the January window, and despite a poor result against Burnley last weekend, there is a feeling that Arteta can bring back the success.
However, legend Wright doubts whether Arteta will be given the transfer funds required to bring in the players he wants this summer, and he says it is going to be a “massive ask” for the Spaniard to get his current crop of stars back performing to a high standard.
“Once he’s taken over Arteta, he now realises the enormous task that he has,” Wright told Premier League Productions.
“You look at the way they started [against Burnley], it looked like ‘Yeah, something’s going to happen here’.
“They started sharp, they made the chances and then after that they just slowly went further and further into their shell.
“It’s something that he has to address because with the calibre of player we’ve got, you have to give Burnley credit for where they are, but the calibre of player we’ve got, we should be performing a lot better.
“We’ve got a lot of young players coming through now that you hope can step up to the mark but we’ve got a lot of players there at the moment that are not playing to a level where Arsenal should be and that is the job that Mikel Arteta’s got, to get them back to that level.
“Whether or not he can do that with the funds that he’s got, which isn’t much, it’s going to be a massive, massive ask.”
