Solskjaer urged to make move and solve Manchester United issues with world class Koulibaly deal
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes Manchester United must improve their defence by signing Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.
Koulibaly has firmly established himself as one of the very best centre-backs over in Italy over the past few seasons and his performances have led to rumours that he is coming to the Premier League
The 29-year-old defender has been linked with big-money moves to Manchester United for months now, but the Red Devils have been focusing on their attack before they start trying to add to that back-line.
And amid all the speculation that a move could be made, Gunners icon Wright has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make a move and try to bring Koulibaly to the Premier League by the end of the transfer window.
He was quoted on TalkSport: “We saw with the one signing in [Bruno] Fernandes that it all changed for Manchester United.
“But for me in the defensive point of view they’re still very weak. We’re hearing City might get Koulibaly but they’ve [United] got to be going in there trying to do that, they’ve got to be trying to do that deal.
“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a fantastic defender but [Victor] Lindelof and [Harry] Maguire and the left side [Luke Shaw] – those three are there for the taking.
“If you’re to challenge those teams [Liverpool & Manchester City] they’ve got to be a lot stronger. it’s not strong enough for me at the moment.
“They’ve got Fernandes, they’ve got Pogba. As much as Sancho, we’re seeing great things. Man United need to do what Liverpool did – address the problems and then go from there.”
Look, United need to add a partner to that back-line for Harry Maguire and if there is a chance for them to swoop in and bring Koulibaly to the club, then they need to make a move.
He is a leader, winner and proven at the very top, and for £60 million, he could offer the club a good few years of service.
