Arteta advised to sign Xhaka replacement – Chief opens door for Arsenal move to happen – Abraham addresses rumours
Arsenal get Lewandowski chance – Abraham addresses rumours – Arteta told to replace Xhaka in Arsenal news of the day…
Roma striker Tammy Abraham has pretty much told Arsenal where he plans to be for the start of next season.
After Chelsea made the big decision to let Abraham leave the club last season for a move to Italian football – Abraham has developed into a top forward for Roma
The former Chelsea and Aston Villa forward, 24, claimed his 16th and 17th league goals for Jose Mourinho’s side in Turin in their final league game of the season – which made him the highest scoring English player in a Serie A season.
His performances over in Italian football has led to constant speculation in the media that a move back to the Premier League may be on the cards – with the likes of United – Arsenal and Newcastle just three clubs linked with a possible transfer move
It is no secret that Mikel Arteta wants to improve that front-line that he has and knows that Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nektiah will never score him the amount of goals that he needs to progress the club
However – it seems that Abraham is very happy at Roma right now and has no plans to leave the club when the transfer window opens up – Abraham told DAZN: “Like I’ve always said, I fell in love with this club from the first day and I will always help the team as much as possible with my goals and assists.
“It’s been a good year for me, I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year.’
“I love this club. They’ve given me the opportunity to show myself, my heart is here. We’ll see what the future holds, but my heart is here.”
It has been amazing to see one one of the best young English strikers scoring goals for fun over in Italian football – and it is easy to see why Arsenal are keen
But right now – he does not need to come back to England before he is more established – he will be a good signing – but Arteta would still not see him as the clubs number one hitman
Barcelona can likely not afford a move for Arsenal target Robert Lewandowski, according to the president of La Liga, Javier Tebas
After another stunning season in which he broke the 40-goal mark and helped Bayern to another League title – Lewandowski shocked the world when he confirmed that he would not be signing a new contract with the Germans
It is believed that Bayern do not want to pay him the kind of wages that he desires – around the £600,000-a-week mark – and have given up hope of keeping hold – so have decided that they will allow him to leave for a fee this summer – rather than nothing next summer
That has led to alot of speculation that the likes of Chelsea – Barcelona – Man United and even Arsenal have all been linked with a move – although the Spaniards are reportedly leading the chase for the striker
However – Tebas does not see how the Blaugrana can bring him to Camp Nou amid their own well-documented financial difficulties – “As of today, no,” the chief was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Other things have to happen that I don’t know if they are going to happen. The numbers are very easy.
“You have more than €500 million (£423m/$528m) from the previous two years, you have to recover them to be able to sign without the one-third rule.”
“Lewandowski has one year left at Bayern. Between what Lewandowski wants to earn and what Bayern wants to take, it gives me the feeling, as of today I don’t see him at Barcelona.”
The fact that one of the very best players is on the transfer market is a massive shock to the system – but everyone is waiting to see just where he ends up
Arsenal dont have a realistic chance to sign the man – but they should be signing players like these when they come onto the market
Arteta sent Xhaka message…
Arsenal legend Martin Keown has opened up and urged Mikel Arteta to find an alternative for midfielder Granit Xhaka in the transfer window.
The Gunners have had a very inconsistent season this time around and may end up finishing back outside the top four spots after they blew their chances of Champions League football for next season
That has led to all sorts of rumours about the type of players that will be coming in – the amount of money that Arteta will be handed – and if the Gunners can convince the biggest players to make that move to the Emirates
Now – amid all the speculation in the media – the Arsenal legend has opened up and claimed that Arsenal need to find a solution to their Xhaka problem in the centre of that midield.
He told TalkSport: “If we go back to Arsene Wenger when he sat down when leaving, he said he wanted mature players, 28 to 29-year-old’s.
“Arsenal have had the youngster team in the Premier League this season, I admire where they are going, but they need to fill it with experience.
“I can see problems when I look at the team. People will say you have never managed, but I have been in successful teams. Tactically, I saw issues against Newcastle about being too deep, and players acting as individuals.
“[Takehiro] Tomiyasu was exposed, with nobody supporting him in front. It always seems to be the youngsters that are carrying the club, it is a very young group, and the obvious thing is to pack the team with some experience.
“I presume that is what will happen this summer, but fifth place us a huge disappointment for me as an Arsenal fan.
“The middle is where the club needs to strengthen, I think with [Granit] Xhaka, it is time for change, I am not saying get rid of him completely. I just feel if he is coming on and making a contribution in midfield, then he needs to get better and develop.
“[Thomas] Partey has been injured for long periods of the season, and [Albert Sambi] Lokonga has been deemed to be not quite good enough.
“Mohamed Elneny, is he the answer? So the midfield, that engine room is a key area which needs to be better.”
