OFFICIAL Arsenal statement released – Powerhouse says he ‘is delighted’ with summer move’

Bayer Leverkusen have signed Granit Xhaka from Arsenal – and the midfielder is delighted with the move.

Xhaha was a massive part of that ARSENAL side last season and is still a big time player for the Gunners – although he has had to make way for Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard.

It had been claimed that Leverkusen were keen to take him to the Bundesliga this summer window and it has also been claimed that he is open to that potential switch.

Rumours have been circiling for weeks about the potential deal – but now the move has been confirmed by the Gunners and the German side.

Arsenal said: ‘Everyone at Arsenal thanks Granit for his contribution during his seven years with us and wish him and his family the best of health and happiness in the future.’

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID ON THE MOVE – 

He told the Germans website: “I know the league inside out and I watched it when I was in London. Bayer 04 is a club with an impressive history and ambitious targets.

“Above all, I see it as a club with a great future. Discussions with the management have been incredibly motivating. Everybody here is ambitious and wants to achieve something – I’m very much looking forward to the next few years.”

His new boss Simon Rolfes said –

“In Granit we have been able to bring in an absolute top player.

“His ability on the pitch is well known. But, above all, there are few players who are able to so convincingly lead a team like he does thanks to his outstanding mentality and personality,”

RIGHT TIME FOR XHAKA TO LEAVE?

Xhaka has had a love hate relationship with the ARSENAL fans for a very long time – but at the end of the day – this was the right time to move on – he was going to fall down the pecking order with the signings that expected to come to the club.
