Lampard sends £80 million transfer message, Chelsea boss confirms interest in £85m deal, Winger offered to Chelsea

Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from

Paul Merson has told Chelsea to not bother signing Wilfried Zaha because they already have young wingers contending for a starting place in the team.

Chelsea are expected to make many moves during the January transfer window in order to add some extra quality to certain areas of the pitch, especially as Frank Lampard needs to get back inside the top four this season in order to attract the type of players he wants in the summer.

And that has led to surprising speculation in the media suggesting that the Blues are ready to spend some serious money and acquire the services of Zaha, who has developed nicely over the past few years and is now one of the best wingers in the Premier League.

Reports have even gone on to say that Chelsea were willing to use Olivier Giroud as part of the deal that gets Zaha to Stamford Bridge, with the Frenchman seemingly on his way out of the club after failing to make an impact this season under Frank Lampard.

The Sky Sports website has revealed The agreement to team up with the renowned Israeli negotiator and part with his long-time agent Will Salthouse was concluded in the last 72 hours, and it is seen as a clear indication that the Ivory Coast international still wants away from Selhurst Park at the earliest opportunity.

long-time admirers Chelsea have been interested in the winger as they seek an immediate replacement for the departed Hazard, and Zahavi is known to be a good friend of the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

But Merson has warned the Blues that they do not need Zaha in their squad: “Chelsea are well-stocked for wingers,” Merson told the Daily Star, referring particularly to Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic.

“I don’t see why they need him when they have all these young players coming through with much greater potential.”

“I just can’t see a European giant paying £80m for a player who won’t get you double-figure goals every season.”

Shock reports have claimed Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Thomas Lemar this transfer window

Despite their decent start to the new season and the fact they have some of the best creative players in the Premier League, with the likes of Willian, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and Mason Mount just a few names to be mentioned, there is a lot of speculation about who Frank Lampard could sign.

The Blues legend and former England International has been unable to sign any players during his first few months of his time back at Chelsea due to their transfer ban, but that was overturned and he is now able to sign players to help improve the side

Now, it seems that they have the opportunity to wrap up a transfer deal for Lemar, who has struggled to impress since making the big money move to Atheltic Madrid during the 2018 transfer window.

Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha is reported to be high on Chelsea’s list of transfer targets, but his £80m valuation could see attention switch to Lemar, who commands a £5m loan fee with an options to but for around £50m.

And according to reports on the TalkSport website, Madrid are eager to offload the winger and have offered him to Chelsea, with the reports also suggesting that he is more than open to the idea of a move to Stamford Bridge.

And amid the transfer speculation surrounding his future, Lemar recently posted a cryptic message on the social media platform, stating: “The days follow each other are not alike,” wrote Lemar.

“However, I learned that no matter what your day is made of, the main thing is to keep smiling and stay positive happy smile newyear.”

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed that the Blues are interested in signing Lyon star Moussa Dembele this month.

The Frenchman’s stock has risen significantly since his £20million move from Celtic last year, having netted 29 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions.

His performances and goals have attracted interested from United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is reportedly keen to add some fire-power to his youthful attack, and reportedly sees Dembele as a very good investment for the club.

The Chelsea manager is adamant he will look to strengthen his squad in the transfer market before the window closes but hinted former Fulham and Celtic striker Dembele is not top of his wish list.

He said on the Metro: ‘He is a player I know, and a player that the club know. But I’m surprised to see his name to pop up so regularly when it’s not popping up in my conversations so regularly, to be brutally honest.

‘And there’s quite a few players in the last week I can say the same about. He’s a player I respect and I know he’s another team’s player.

‘Of course, we’re looking to strengthen and I’ve spoken about strengthening in high areas, goalscorers, because it’s where we’ve been found pretty short in home games recently particularly.

‘The idea of people being clinical, they are hard to find, and I’ll only want to go that way if we know we are improving the squad we have already because at the moment we are working very hard on the training ground and in game to get that right ourselves.’

Pressed on whether Dembele definitively would not be moving to Chelsea in January, Lampard replied: ‘I don’t want to go cut and dry on anybody, but as I said, it’s not one we are openly talking about and if it’s a decision I will be a big part of that decision.’
