One £70m message to another £70m man! Zaha has Arsenal message for new Gunners signing!

Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha has urged fans to be patient with new Arsenal signing Nicolas Pepe.

After having a breakthrough season last year for Lille, Pepe managed to secure himself a massive £72 million move to the Emirates as Gunners boss Unai Emery felt he needed to bolster his already impressive attack with another winger.

But despite some classy glimpses of what is to come from the young man, Pepe has so far failed to fulfil the potential that many Arsenal fans had hoped after the club broke the club record to acquire his services ahead of Bayern Munich, as he is really struggling to adapt to the Premier League.

Asked how Pepe will fare this season after his slow start in Arsenal colours, Zaha told BBC Africa: ‘I see the social media, I see everything and it’s a thing where he needs time. He’s come from another league, he’s young

‘There’s this price tag that he has not put on himself, people have put that on him because of his performances, so you’ve got to give him time for him to reproduce that, it’s not going to come like that

‘I have got nothing but faith in him, I’ve got confidence that he will produce the same thing that he did before because we both play for Ivory Coast and I’ve seen the talent he’s got, but not everyone sees it.’

Unai Emery recently insisted Pepe needs time to adapt and has refused to put the winger under pressure because of his £72m price tag.

‘The players are not thinking about the salary or what one club paid to use him,’ said Emery.said Emery.said Emery.

‘For us, it’s not thinking about pressure or not pressure. We are playing every time, as a coach or a player, under pressure. Under pressure is a positive. Being under pressure is because we are at a big club with a very demanding objective.

‘The players are here because they deserve to be and they are privileged to be here. That privilege brings pressure, of course. But it’s positive.

‘Not for the salary, not for how much the club paid for him. No, no, no. It’s because we need to achieve a good performance, individually and collectively. We need to be very demanding of ourselves, but it’s positive.

‘I am sure that Pepe is an amazing player. A lot of players when they came here, the first month, the first year is not easy for them.

‘But I am going to work with him, to make it easier for Pepe and Dani Ceballos and other players, and carry on, being together and be strong.’

Pepe is a very young player that has come to Arsenal with a very big price tag, and that is seemingly weighing on his shoulders, especially as there is already so much pressure to be a huge success at the club.

Arsenal probably should have spent that kind of money on a player that has already had time at the very top of the game, as fans will not give the lad too much time to adapt. So he needs to step up and show the Premier League just why Arsenal paid so much money to secure his services.

The lad has talent and ability, there is no doubt, but the longer he goes with impressing in the English game, the harder it will be for him to become a success in the Premier League.
