Lampard should sign £80m star Zaha from under Arsenal’s noses as Chelsea ‘in contact with agents’
Chelsea SHOULD reignite their interest in Wilfred Zaha if they manage to get their transfer ban overturned before January.
Chelsea are reportedly making contact with players’ agents as they plan for a busy January transfer window in the hope that their current ban is lifted, as the the Blues expect the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to cut short their transfer ban, which was imposed by FIFA in February.
It will mean that Lampard will be able to delve into the clubs transfer kitty and add a few players to the squad that will add some experience, and quality in the right areas of the pitch.
And one man that could be signed by Chelsea is that of Zaha.
Zaha has been in the transfer headlines all summer as a number of top clubs have been linked with a possible move ever since he admitted that he is eyeing up playing at the very top of the game.
But it is Arsenal who have shown the most interest in a potential deal for the winger and there has been constant speculation that Unai Emery was desperate to add another top-class winger to the squad and had targeted the impressive Englishman.
However, there is some talk that Chelsea may decide to make a move in the January transfer window to try and secure a deal for Zaha if they do indeed get their transfer ban overturned as they seek to add some experience to the side.
It is believed Palace would be open to the idea of selling their star man in January, if the right offer arrives, with reports suggesting that Palace will not accept anything less that £80 million for the winger.
Despite having Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Pedro in the squad, Frank Lampard is a bit thin on the wings and will need to add to his squad when they are able to sign players unless one of the talented youngsters comes out and impresses the Blues coach.
Zaha is a man that could be a world class winger if he joins the right club and it would be a shock to see him stay at Palace either this transfer window or next summer, if Palace decide to drop that £80 million price tag.
But seeing him sign for Chelsea would also be a massive shock as they know bringing in Zaha would compromise the futures of Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi, who is tipped to become one of the best wingers in the game.
