Munich annoyed with Liverpool over Thiago, Werner transfer claim made and Liverpool target ‘should be allowed to leave’
Munich annoyed with Liverpool, Zaha should be allowed to leave and Werner transfer claim made in Liverpool news roundup…
Crystal Palace forward and Long-term Liverpool target Wilfried Zaha should be allowed to leave for a bigger club, according to the Mirror’s Darren Lewis.
Crystal Palace forward Zaha, 27, is regarded as one of the most creative and attacking wingers in the Premier League right now and has been linked with a big move away from the club for the last 12 months.
Zaha almost made the move to join a big club last summer, but his hefty price tag meant that no club wanted to pay £50 million to secure a transfer deal and he had to stay put.
But the winger has been back in the headlines over the past few weeks and Liverpool have been linked with a transfer move, and amid all the speculation, Lewis has claimed that Zaha should be allowed to leave for a bigger club.
The Ivorian has been involved in 60 Premier League goals (37 goals, 23 assists) while at Selhurst Park, 28 more than any other player for the club in the competition.
“He has carried the club at times on his back,” he told Super Sunday Matchday. “It is very easy for people to turn round and criticise players who say they want to move on.
“But he has, he has been a fantastic servant for Palace and if somebody is willing to pay the money, I do not really see any reason why he should not be allowed to go.”
Bayern Munich are ‘annoyed’ with the likes of Liverpool for not playing ball and meeting the German club’s asking price.
Thiago got headlines going crazy just a few weeks ago when it was revealed that he wants to leave the club and test himself in the Premier League before hanging up is top-level playing days.
The Spain international has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, who are favourites to sign him this summer but no deal has yet come to fruition, while rivals United are also said to be interested.
Now Hoeness has sensationally accused Liverpool and United of underhand tactics as they try to sign the 29-year-old for a cheaper fee than the £27 million that Bayern want later on in the transfer window.
German football expert Kevin Hatchard was asked about Hoeness’ comments, and told talkSPORT: “Famously in Germany they actually laugh at the England for throwing money at every situation, so Bayern would be quite annoyed by this [Liverpool and United’s refusal to pay up].
“He also said that he feels Thiago has probably already agreed terms with Liverpool, he may well have agreed terms with Manchester United as well, from his point of view.”
It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out as Liverpool are looking to wrap up some kind of £20 million bargain.
Peter Crouch believes Liverpool ‘missed a trick’ by not signing Timo Werner this summer.
The German striker was strongly linked with a move to Anfield earlier in the transfer window and it is even believed that he was very keen on a move to Anfield to work under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.
But he eventually joined Chelsea in a deal that was worth £54 million, as Liverpool’s transfer plans changed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and many have hit out at the club for not getting a deal done.
Now Crouchy believes Liverpool ‘missed a trick’ by not signing Timo Werner this summer, Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “It’s never a bad thing to bring in new players to freshen things up.
“Liverpool are still my idea of champions and their squad is fantastic but there are always areas that need some investment.
“I looked at the defence against Leeds. They have got three great players in Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip but I believe they could do with another addition there, as I wouldn’t want to see Fabinho used as the fourth-choice central defender.
“Look at the second goal they conceded, to Patrick Bamford. It was a rare mistake by Van Dijk that had a hint of complacency about it. Does he make the same mistake if Liverpool have signed a central defender this summer and pressure is being applied to his place? Competition raises your standards by an extra one or two per cent.
“There are only so many times Mohamed Salah, who baled out his team, and Sadio Mane can produce heroics. Adding another midfielder — such as Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara — or back-up striker would be welcomed.
“I have a feeling they missed a trick not getting Timo Werner.”
Liverpool did have the chance to get a deal done, but they didnt.
So it will their fault if they missed out on the man.
