Mourinho confident striker will arrive with Spurs linked with 48-goal hitman, Hodgson makes Zaha transfer claim and Tottenham should sign Thiago
Mourinho confident new striker will be signed, Zaha has his head turned and Spurs should make Thiago move in Tottenham news roundup..
Bayer Munich star Thiago is still on the market and Tottenham should try and get a deal done.
Tottenham do not have alot of money to spend in the summer transfer window, but that does not mean that Jose Mourinho will not be seeking to add a bit of class, creativity and quality to his midfield.
Spurs have a very good midfield, but they are lacking a creative player that can come in and have the ability to open up defences, something that Thiago has been doing for many years now.
It is believed that Thiago is not happy with the contract offer that Bayern have reportedly placed on the table and now wants to leave the club this transfer window, with the Premier League in his sights.
Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly leading the chase to get a transfer deal done, and rightly so, but they have not yet made their moves and Thiago is still on the market for just £27 million.
Look, there is alot of interest in the services of Thiago and Spurs will have to fend off a number of top clubs to get a deal done, but the fact they could sign the player for £27million, means that they would be foolish not to make a move.
They need creativity in that midfield, and Thiago could be that answer for Mourinho as he looks to get the club winning titles and playing Champions League on a yearly basis.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is confident he will sign a striker in the transfer window, with Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik.
It is easy to say that Tottenham have the best striker in the game in the shape of Harry Kane, and that the club only need to go out and try to sign a forward that is happy to play second fiddle to the England hitman.
Kane is the only specialist striker in Tottenham’s first-team squad and head coach Jose Mourinho says the club is “working very hard” to sign competition for the England captain, with Milik on the agenda.
Milik is heavily tipped to leave Napoli this transfer window if they receive an offer of £32 million for the hitman, who has netted an impressive 48 goals in just 112 appearances for the Italian side.
And now fans have been given a massive boost that a striker will be signed by the club after Mourinho admitted that he is confident that a new arrival will be signed by the board in the coming weeks.
“I want, I need a striker, but I want to make it very, very clear that the club knows that I need a striker and they also want a striker,” Mourinho said on Sky Sports.
“Are we going to get one? I believe so, I honestly believe so. The team needs it for the balance of the squad.”
Roy Hodgson admits wantaway Tottenham target Wilfried Zaha has had his head turned going into the new season.
Crystal Palace forward Zaha, 27, is regarded as one of the most creative and attacking wingers in the Premier League right now and has been linked with a big move away from the club for the last 12 months.
Zaha almost made the move to join a big club last summer, but his hefty price tag meant that no club wanted to pay £80 million to secure a transfer deal and he had to stay put.
But the winger has been back in the headlines over the past few weeks and Tottenham have been linked with a transfer move and boss Hodgson, preparing for today’s Premier League opener against Southampton, said on TalkSport: “There are a lot of things being said and a lot of people putting ideas into his head.
“So it’s not the easiest thing for him to come to terms with.
“The external influences are quite great and he has to battle a few demons there.
“But I must say I’m basing my opinion on what he is doing at the moment.
“His training and the matches he has played for us, there has been no problem at all.
“You’d have to speak to Wilf to find out the exact state of his psyche — but I’m not concerned.”
It is easy to see why Zaha has had his head turned by big clubs, but Palace sticking a massive price tag on his head means that he is not able to make that step up to a bigger club.
He is far too good to stay at Palace and deserves to be at a club like Tottenham, playing for big trophies and in a team that will be in the Champions League.
He would be another ideal signing for Mourinho.
