Blues left WTF after Frenchman swipes Chelsea after superstar makes summer move
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has taken a veiled swipe at Chelsea over Eden Hazard.
Hazard became one of the most talked about players for Chelsea last season, with constant speculation in the media linking him with a move away to Madrid.
Chelsea did not want to sell their star man, who had one of his most productive campaigns at Chelsea last season, but knew that the Belgian was desperate to move and pretty much forced through an exit after admitting on numerous occasions that he wanted a fresh challenge in the game.
Zidane is a huge fan of the winger and has now come out and taken a mini swipe at Chelsea, claiming the Belgium star needed a change of scenery and can improve even further at the Bernabeu after agreeing that £130 million move.
“What Eden needed was a club like Madrid to improve,” he told Spanish daily AS.
“This club has something special and the players know it. I arrived at 29 years old and I still had a lot left.
“I spent five years in this club and I had a better time, I improved with 29 years. We know the player he is, we have how important he is going to be.”
Chelsea helped Hazard become one of the most creative and exciting players in the game, and pretty much turned him into the player that he is now.
But he kind of stagnated at Chelsea and did need a change of scenery, especially as he believed that he would win the Ballon D’or and Champions League with Madrid, not Chelsea.
Chelsea have moved on from Hazard and no longer care what happens with the Belgian, but many will be wondering if he can success at Madrid, especially as he has the expectations of filling the boots of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Hazard will surely become a regular starter at the Bernabeu this coming season, especially as he has been hailed as the biggest signing of the summer for the Spaniards.
