Chelsea close to agreeing another summer arrival, Dutchman sends Blues message after shock deal, Chelsea praised for Ziyech signing, Would Chelsea fans welcome £60 million arrival?
Guys here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews over the past 24 hours.
Former Ajax ace Andy van der Meyde has questioned Hakin Ziyech’s £36.6 million Chelsea move by claiming the Blues aren’t a top team.
Chelsea surprised many people over the past week and beat the likes of Manchester United to the signing of Ziyech in a deal worth £37 million, as the impressive winger will arrive when the summer transfer window opens up at the end of the season.
Ziyech has made a real name for himself with the Dutch giants and has confirmed himself as one of the very best wingers in Europe right now, and was linked with a move to Chelsea last summer, but the high price tag but off the London based club and they have waited until his price tag lowered just a bit.
Ziyech had an amazing season last year for the Dutch Champions and netted and helped Ajax reclaim their Dutch title, while also reaching the Champions League semi-finals, only to lose to a Tottenham side that was in form.
He also netted 16 goals and added a further 13 assists in 29-League games for Ajax and will come into the Chelsea side to add some much needed creativity to Lampards side, but Van Der Meyde has questioned why Ziyech has made the move to Chelsea.
He told VTBL: “It’s time for him to leave. Hakim is ready, he has to take the next step. The Eredivise is a training party for Ziyech. It makes sense that he looking for a new team. You need that as a top athlete.
“I just didn’t expect him to go to Chelsea. I don’t think it’s a top team nor a stable club. I would have expected Bayern Munich or someone of that size.
“Of course, it could be that the hierarchy below Liverpool changes if Manchester City are really punished [by UEFA] and maybe Chelsea will benefit from it and they will play for the top trophies, but then again, if they play, I don’t think: ‘Wow, I’ll stay at home and watch.’”
Gunners legend Ian Wright has praised Chelsea’s ‘brilliant’ transfer deal for Hakim Ziyech.
Chelsea may have not done the January business that many fans would have liked to see happen, but the Blues moved swiftly after the transfer window and secure a transfer deal for the very impressive Ziyech, after it was confirmed on Thursday that Chelsea had agreed a £36.6million deal to sign the Morocco international.
The 26-year-old starred in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last season and also helped the Dutch side to their first League in a good few seasons, with an impressive return of 16-goals and 13 assists in 29 League games for the Dutch giants.
Now Arsenal legend Wright says he will be a ‘fantastic’ addition for Chelsea, telling the Premier League Productions: ‘The thing with Ziyech is that he’s one of those creative players and when you watch Chelsea, especially at home, I think they were expecting a bit more for their creative players,’
‘And then because of what Eden Hazard did for them, they had one particular player who in that role could make something happen.
‘I think it’s a brilliant signing. If he can hit anywhere near the form [he’s shown for Ajax] it’s a fantastic signing.’
Ziyech should be one of a number of signings that Chelsea will surely make during the summer transfer window and if his arrival shows the type of quality that the club will be looking to sign, it could be a real statement summer for Lampards side.
The club hero knows he is well off the pace of the top clubs in the Premier League and needs to add a world class defender, another midfielder and possibly a top-class striker to the side.
Reports have claimed Chelsea are set to complete the £23million signing of Matias Vecino in the summer transfer window.
Now look, Chelsea have been linked with all sorts of players over the past few months since the arrival of Frank Lampard, and Chelsea fans were left frustrated during the January transfer window after the club FAILED TO GET ANY deals done that would help improve the side.
But with the summer transfer window just a few months away, it could turn out to be a very exciting summer for everyone associated with the Chelsea as the Blues have already completed the £36 million signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, and are on the look-out for their next signing.
Now the West London club are already working on getting plenty of deals done for when the window re-opens in the summer, and according to the Sunday Express, Inter Milan midfielder Vecino is high on the list after another impressive season in the Seria A
Reports have gone on to claim that Inter boss Antonio Conte is willing to let the Uruguayan go in order to help fund his own summer business, and will allow Chelsea to complete a deal for a bargain £23 million.
Chelsea have a reported £150 million to play with during the summer transfer window and many in the media believe that Lampard is keen to add some more wingers to the side, especially as there is alot of speculation in the media linking the likes of Pedro and Willian away from the club.
Would Chelsea fans like to see David Alaba arrive from Bayern Munich in the summer after he dropped a massive transfer hint?
Lampard knows that he needs to improve the side if he wants to get back inside the top four and then push on to challenge for a Premier League title and Champions League crown.
And one area of concern for the Blues is the defence, as it is not good enough to challenge the big boys in Europe, so Lampard is reportedly keen to sort that issues out with the possible signing of Alaba, who is regarded as one of the best left-backs in the game right now.
Alaba has 18 months left on his current deal with the German giants, but there has been a few issues with his contract talks and speculation has risen over the past few months that he is seeking a way out of the club after ten years of service with Bayer.
And with the transfer window still a few months away, Alaba has spoken about a possible move to the Premier League, and has also admitted that he can imagine himself playing somehwere else other than the Bundesliga, telling THE TIMES: “We’ll see,”
“I know the Premier League very well because I followed it a lot when I was younger.
“I supported Arsenal. Patrick Vieira was one of my favourite players. At the moment I don’t think too much about it, but I can imagine playing somewhere else.”
Chelsea will surely be making some serious transfer moves during the summer transfer window and trying to improve this squad enough to close that gap to Manchester City and Liverpool, who are the two dominant sides in the Premier League right now.
Alaba will not come cheap if Chelsea do decide to make the move, but to try and sign him for £60 million would be a great bit of business by the club as he is only 27, is one of the best and still has many years left at the top of the game.
He would be a welcomed addition to this Chelsea side and the Premier League
