Chelsea’s deal to sign Hakim Ziyech has not affected Willian’s future at the club with both parties keen to agree a new contract.

Chelsea surprised many in the media over the past few days by completing an early deal to bring Ziyech to the premier League next season for a small fee of £37 million, with many believing that he is the immediate replacement for the ageing Willian, who has been linked with a move away from the club.

There has been talk that he could be leaving at the end of the season as reports in the media have suggested that Chelsea may not be willing to offer him a new contract because of his age, and may be willing to let him leave the club on a free transfer, with the likes of Juventus and Barcelona eyeing up a possible deal

But despite his impending arrival in the summer, The Independent states the transfer will not impact Willian, and that Chelsea and the stars representatives are still in talks to try and agree a deal that would allow him to stay at the club for the next few years.

But there is an however, with reports claiming the veteran wants a three-year package, while Chelsea famously are reluctant to offer more than a 12-month extension to players in their thirties.

Willian recently admitted his desire to stay with the club: ‘Everyone knows how I love this club and how I enjoy to play for Chelsea. If I can, I will stay here until I am 40 years old but football is not always like this,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘[I want to stay] because I like to play here. It’s not only my decision, we have to decide together with the club. We’ve had some conversations.

‘I hope I can say to you guys that I will stay but now I cannot say.’

There are many out there that wrote Chelsea off at the beginning of the season as they lost star man Eden Hazard, lost their Europa League title winning coach Maurizio Sarri to Juventus and were unable to sign any players during the transfer window.

Former Liverpool favourite Jason McAteer has told Reds’ rivals Chelsea to sign Philippe Coutinho during the summer transfer window.

Coutinho made a name for himself at Liverpool as one of the best creative midfielders in the game and Barcelona were determined to acquire his services as the long-term replacement for Andreas Iniesta.

However, his move to the Camp Nou has not gone down as well as many had hoped and after the arrival of Antoine Griezmann, he has fallen well down the pecking order, meaning that he was shipped out o Bayern Munich on a loan basis.

The former Liverpool man has impressed in patches with the Bundesliga champions, having an hand in over 20 goals this season for the dominant German Champions, but according there is a feeling that Bayern may not take up the opportunity to sign Coutinho on a permanent basis, meaning Chelsea could swoop in for a possible deal.

And according to recent reports in the media, Barcelona are desperate to offload the Brazilian in the summer and will allow him to leave the club if the £77 million price tag is met by the likes of Chelsea.

Now former Liverpool star McAteer has opened up and told Chelsea that they should make a move for Coutinho, he told talkSPORT: “I could see Philippe Coutinho slotting in perfectly at Chelsea, where Frank Lampard is doing unbelievable things trying to reboot the club using a lot of young talent bedding in alongside some experienced stars.

“Coutinho would feel really comfortable in the number ten role at Stamford Bridge with the protection of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho and an array of young frontmen around him who would thrive working off him.”

New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech has admitted the death of his father almost led him to spiral of drink and drugs after the tragedy when he was just ten.

Life grew tougher as his father struggled more and more with multiple sclerosis, and Ziyech has come out and admitted that it his death almost drove him to a life of drugs and drink, telling Dutch newspaper De Volskrant: “That disease wrecked him. He could do less and less. No more walking, eating, talking.

“He had previously had a heart attack. He worked hard and smoked a lot.

“I remember it well, it was winter, just after Christmas.

“My father was in bed in the living room. He was sick for some time.

“I had to go to bed that night, but wanted to stay with him. Eventually I fell asleep on the edge of his bed with him.

“Around midnight I woke up and went upstairs to my bedroom.

“A few hours later, around three o’clock, I heard family members crying downstairs.

“I went to the living room. My father was dead. And there you are, a ten-year-old boy . .

“I didn’t go to school any more. Football didn’t matter to me either. I was completely gone.”
