Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi has given his stance on leaving the Spaniards – with ARSENAL interested in a potential deal.

Arsenal were looking to add a few more players to the side during the January window and were heavily linked with a move for the impressive Zubimendi – who has been very good over in La Liga this season.

In the end however, Arsenal made the decision to move for a few other players and opted to not splash the £53 million it would have taken to bring Zubimendi to the Premier League.

The midfielder has since discussed the prospect of a move to Arsenal or Barcelona in an interview with Spanish outlet Sport. He said: “Rumors, rumors, because I told my manager that I didn’t want to hear anything, especially in winter. Leaving Real Sociedad aside with the season we are having would be illogical. Here I am very happy.”

But Zubimendi clarified that he wishes to stay at Sociedad, adding: “Beyond the clause, when someone wants to be in a club, the clause doesn’t matter. I think it is a balanced clause with all the aspects that the contract brought together. Nothing more than that… I look forward to a quiet summer. Like the others and nothing.”

Zubimendi has been brilliant for Sociaded over the past few seasons and we can easily see why the Gunners scouts toom such an interest in the man, he really has been impressive.

He may want to stay at Sociedad for now – but if ARSENAL come calling at the end of the season and agree a fee with the Spaniards – he could find it very hard to turn down a move to the Emirates – especially with the way the club are playing right now.

The transfer window is many months away – but we will be keeping a close eye on this rumour
